*SO- it turns out Jay's mom is a child of Demeter. Which lead to Will introducing Lou Ellen, Cecil and the Helioscopias (Apollo cabin), which leads to them now, Will running red lights like they owe him money*
*Jay holds on tight to him, every nerve in his body was alight, screaming at him to get there. To make sure they're safe. To make sure that Austin didn't bleed out to death*
*There was a major monster attack at camp, and the Head Medic was missing*
a short solangelo snippet from my rp, 946 words of angst and a little bit of comfort at the end, enjoyyyyy
It's 2:14am. camp is quiet.
There are two boys on the roof of the hades cabin, one shadowed and the other golden - they are both broken (it’s neither of their fault but they blame themselves)(and eachother)(and the whole damn world).
Nico almost reaches out but stops at the very last second, a cacophony of imagined rejection and hypothesised pain locking his muscles in place. Will pretends not to notice and then pretends not to be hurt. This is what they have been reduced to lately - hidden aching and almosts. The almosts are the worst part.
They’ve been silent for too long when Will speaks:
“you lied to me”
“Yeah i did”
“.....”
“You left me”
“Yeah… i did”
They are silent again. Nico clears his throat quietly and looks up at the sky, finding constellations (an excuse not to look at Will).
“i didnt want to lie to you”
“I didn't want to leave you”
Taurus and Gemini watch them from above.
“I’m sorry”
“I’m sorry too”
Will shifts imperceptibly closer to the other boy, it's cold, he justifies to himself. Really he just wants to curl up next to Nico and pretend nothing ever changed, all he ever does is pretend, what's it matter if he just changes what it’s about. But he can’t. It wouldn’t be fair on either of them.
“You aren’t the villain, Nico” he says and Nico looks at him sharply.
“I-” he starts, before looking away again. “Neither are you, will” he finishes quietly. It feels like a gut punch.
Nico shifts imperceptibly closer to will. It’s as if they are trying to trick their minds into not noticing the way they yearn for connection. It’s not working - they are both painfully aware of it.
“Do you-” Nico begins, “Do you ever wish you’d never met me”
It takes Will too long to respond “No, sometimes i wish I'd never fallen in love with you, but I’m glad I met you”
A tear rolls down Nico's face. “I’m glad I met you too.”
“I have to leave tomorrow” Will says, he whispers it, and secretly–selfishly--he hopes Nico doesn’t hear him. If only so he doesn't have to watch Nico swallow his sadness like medicine and act like he’s fine with it, even though they both know he’d rather die than see Will walk away again.
Unfortunately, Nico heard him. Even more unfortunately, Nico is feeling brave.
“You don’t have to go” he says, a poorly disguised beg for will to staystaystaystaystay-
“Yes, I do Nico” Will says and his heart crumbles just a little bit more.
Nico doesn’t say anything else and Will almost wishes Nico would just finally snap. He remembers Nico's explosive anger in the early days, hot and burning and all consuming. He knew how to deal with that. But this? The flickering rage dowsed in guilt and pain and so much fear every time it flares too far up Nico's throat? Will hates it, he doesn’t know how to help when Nico drinks guilt like its whiskey and he’s an addict.
“We are the only ones who know what really happened” Nico says
“What?”
“No one else really understands everything that happened between us will”
“So?”
“It means we are the only ones who get to decide what happens next”
Will doesn’t know how to reply to that, he isn’t even sure what he wants to happen yet - he loves nico, but sometimes love isn’t enough.
Nico speaks again; “You don’t have to go” - It’s a sad, desperate prayer and Nico knows that. He knows he’s resorted to useless pleas but he can’t quite bring himself to care. It’s not like he has any dignity left to lose, or like any part of his heart left unbroken.
Will stews for a minute. He doesn’t really want to leave, no matter what he claims about Nico, he will always orbit him like they’re binary stars in a lonely galaxy. Nico is difficult and stubborn and unpredictable and guarded and far too jaded to be seventeen, but most of all Nico is his, whether or not Will chooses to give himself in return; he knows that Nico’s heart will always belong to him.
“I can stay another day” he says, and sneaks a glance at nico and-
Fuck.
Nico is shining. Biting the inside of his cheeks to stop his grin and looking down at the floor of the roof but Will can still recognise the flash of undiluted joy that flitted across Nico's face, skittish, but there all the same. For a moment Will remembers exactly what it’s like to be loved by nico: all bursts of sweetness and whispered love letters. For a moment, Will remembers exactly why he should stay another day, and then another, and then another and then every day after that.
This is exactly why Nico is dangerous, and exactly why Will doesn’t care.
Nico reaches for Will, and Wil meets him halfway.
It is 3:14am. Camp is quiet.
There are two boys on the roof of the hades cabin, both shadowed and both golden - they are broken and healing and figuring out where to rest their blame.
The sun begins to rise and they are still holding hands. The light hits them and for a second–a moment–they are ten and eleven again, having stayed up too late talking and getting drunk on laughter and childhood crushes, nothing has happened to them yet, they are still unburdened and untouched by the world.
The second passes and they are damaged again.
But they are holding hands, and the world hasn’t ended just yet.
Prompt: The Rusted Knight had been in the Ever After for a long time. Long enough that the world from before felt like a memory. He clung to his mission 'wait for team RWBY' like a drowning man would driftwood, but the details grew dimmer all the time. Team RWBY were excited to see Jaune was the Rusted Knight…until he called Yang 'Weiss'.
Jaune: Wait, wait, who are you again?
Yang: I'm Yang. You know? The busty blonde brawler bombshell of Team RWBY? Good at board games, and video games, and the coolest girl you met at Beacon?
Jaune: ...Doesn't ring a bell.
Yang: Uh, I'm Ruby's big sister?
Jaune: Which one is Ruby?
Ruby: ...
Jaune: Are you Ruby?
Weiss: No, I'm Weiss. I was your crush back at Beacon? You tried to singing me songs? Called me "Snow Angel"? I froze you in a block of ice a couple times?
Jaune: Huh... Can't tell if I was the worst at taking a hint or you were too much of a fucking prude.
Weiss: EXCUSE ME?!
Jaune: So you're Ruby, right?
Ruby: ...
Blake: No, I'm Blake. I'm a cat faunus? I was the quiet one who liked to read. I'm Yang's... Er, partner.
Jaune: ...Your own sister?
Yang: SHE'S NOT MY SISTER! (Grabs Ruby) THIS IS MY SISTER! (Shakes her) SISTER!
Actually I also have this other weird stone and I'd try to eat it but it's the size of both my hands and it hums with energy and I draw the line at spooky stones.
Floating...darkness...suddenly a flash of light and the darkness began to fade away leaving a semi-conscious Princess falling to the ground below from the sky. Feeling the cooler air breeze through her short blonde hair she groaned her eyes not opening. How long has it been? Help...
She felt arms grab her and wrap around her, protective, strong, and familiar as they fell through the sky. Ganon? No...not as warm but still strong...my Knight...Zelda fell back unconscious so much has happened. Waking up only when coaxed to eat or drink but her Knight which she wasn't sure if she could ever repay him in this lifetime.
Days passed and here she was looking at herself in the mirror at her reflection but not her reflection...her skin had patches of reflective scales along it, her teeth, mainly her canines, were sharper, and the Light Dragon's horns stuck out over her hair on either side of her head. Well...from what was told she was the Light Dragon.
Making a noise of frustration as she tried to remember what exactly happened she got up walking swiftly. She was going to the village exit, tears threatening to fall from her emerald eyes...why couldn't she remember anything after falling? Sure Link told her...but everything felt so lost to her...she was a Dragon? She traveled to the beginning of Hyrule's creation?! She touched the Secret Stone around her neck...something she kept with her and on her since coming to.
