This is a mend I did on a pair of my pants that had ripped right next to the pocket. (I feel like this is due to poor denim quality or something)

I wanted to see if I could patch it with thread alone rather than adding a backing material. It worked out rather nicely and this patch is still going strong.

I used this six strand embroidery thread and a regular embroidery hoop for this and these are my go to hand sewing needles.

A dish cloth I found at my local thrift. It had a few small holes and thin places but it has such a nice character and feel that I really wanted to preserve it.

So I reinforced by copying the pattern with embroidery. Obviously my color matching isn’t great but it will be fine. I didn’t buy anything to match color, I just used embroidery floss I already had in my stash.

I still have a lot of work to do on this rag but this was my start. And fun fact! This was my first foray into embroidering. So if it looks shit it’s because I have no idea what I was doing 😂

Booty Patch

Fixed these for my brother in law. It was a simple fix accomplished by stitching a patch to the inside of the rip and stitching over it enough times to reinforce it.

Pot Holder Fix

Accidentally sat this poor thing on one of my stove eyes while it was still hotter’n fire and it suffered the consequences.

The fix consisted of two layers of denim: one, as a filler to replace the batting that was burned and two, a larger piece that I used as backing.

I didn’t cut it exactly to size, I just kind of folded the edges under as I sewed around the black border of the hot pad. I then zig zag stitched around where the denim and the pot holder meet so there was any weird lip.

And just for finishes I stitched around the words “coffee” and “tea”.

This fix is a year going strong and still doing well, though the corner has suffered a small burn 🤦🏻‍♀️. Overall, it didn’t take long and she has no one to impress since I’ll be the only one enjoying her use ❤️
