Thinking about the part of the Troy 2004 movie where Helen says she hated Sparta and it was never her home, she was just shipped there to marry Menelaus lol

Like come ON give Menelaus the Cinderella story!! He lost everything as a child!! Zero to hero! Exile to king!!

Everything he is known for is a result of who he knows and who he associates with and that’s what makes him so interesting!! You cowards!!

Thinking once again how Menelaus is nothing without Helen. A king of a kingdom he wasn’t born into, that he stumbled into as an exile from his home and just happened to fall in love, just happened to get lucky enough to find a home as a man that was never meant to have one. And maybe for a little bit he forgot about the cosmic misfortune, the curse that had always hung over his head since before he could remember. How painful must it have been to watch Helen disappear, the source of every constant and every joy in his life, and to not know if he was to blame for it, if it was the curse or something else, and to not know which possibility was worse?
