*laces ur coffee with Imperial Pegasus™️ rainbow coffee creamer*
I would think ‘lacing’ is not quite the term, given its colorful but otherwise harmless qualities. Beyond which, you must be aware that I have my coffee black, and any amount of cream in any variety is bound to be noticed.
Although I presume this particular insult to coffee is another frivolous item courtesy of Constance.
what's your opinion on the ashen wolves girls, constance and hapi? i'm sure you'd be interested in the scion of nuvelle, given that she's from a prominent family of mages, and her creative prowess in inventing spells herself. as for hapi, i'd assume you know about her ties to those who slither. have you ever asked her about it? and perhaps you may be interested in her crest's ability, and it's potential as a tool. also, i heard they like coffee too...
Constance does have potential with her extensive magical ability, but it is one she doesn’t care to use to its utmost extent. The spells she creates seem to hinge on empty showmanship rather than anything of true value. I suppose her creativity could still be considered a factor in that... However, I’ve not one ounce of respect for how she’s chosen to apply it.
If I had to be in her company, I would rather it be in shadow. It’s somehow less cumbersome to have to endure her grandstanding than her self-effacing commentary. I have no doubt she would be obnoxiously proud to hear as much.
Regarding Hapi, it’s safe to say she is the only one I have any respect for. I can’t say I have asked her about her experiences with Those Who Slither in the Dark, but I’m aware of the general details surrounding that traumatic event. Such is the benefit of maintaining an intelligence network with ties to the inhuman creatures responsible for that incident. Her Crest’s ability is compelling and has some practical potential, provided she bears safety in mind. The effect of her capabilities on monsters is certainly an area of concern for both herself and those in her company.
Still, I wouldn’t be opposed to taking a coffee break with her. Her skill is undoubtedly impressive, Crest or not, and her level-headed nature is agreeable. Naturally, it should be noted that her perseverance in the face of hardship is something of an inspiration as well.
I would consider the professor and the other Black Eagles students to be friends of mine as well, and I have nothing but respect for Lysithea after the hardship she has overcome. While I find Hanneman exasperating at times and Manuela is far too dramatic for my liking, I don’t dislike them.
Yet Constance spent her initial “friendship” with Lady Edelgard openly attempting to have her noble house restored through Her Majesty when she had markedly more important matters to attend to. Lady Edelgard was endeavoring to free humanity from the creatures who have oppressed us for generations, and Constance was forming new magical spells for the sole purpose of adding color to her tea. To say she was squandering her talents and focusing on fleeting, superficial matters is the polite way to put it.
Over time, she has changed her stance to better align with Her Majesty’s vision, but in my experience, people rarely change their stance on a matter so essential to their identity. Should Constance be selfless in a time of duress or simply apply herself to a goal greater than her own success, I will be re-evaluate my opinion. Until then, I have the lowest regard for Constance of all Her Majesty’s companions.
Despite magic being so widespread in your universe, I haven't seen any examples of it being used outside of combat and medicine. Does the magic in your world not have pratical applications in everyday life, or is it simply too impratical to be worth expending the energy?
Very keen of you to notice. Yes, magic in Fódlan is generally too impractical to use frequently for minor tasks, although it is not unheard of. For magic to be powerful enough for meaningful impact, a tome is required. Each page is made individually and the number of casts is limited to the size of the completed tome. Nearly all spells require several pages of magical script to cast a single spell, after which, the tome must be recharged.
There are minor spells that can be used without tomes—such as the rainbow tea spell Constance created to receive hollow praise from simple minds—but they are not especially practical.
After the war has concluded and the restoration efforts begin, the scholastic environment in Adrestia will be far more welcoming to magical and non-magical inventions alike. In that time, I'm confident that we will see more innovations from the people and some members of the Black Eagle Strike Force as well.
Constance is peculiar. Her personality shifts based on exposure to light are especially compelling given its rarity and intensity. Truth be told, I find both sides to her grating, but I would much prefer her in shadow than in sunlight if I had the choice. I have no doubt she would be obnoxiously proud to hear as much.
Yuri, on the other hand... He is familiar. And not simply because he reminds me of Claude with a more refined tactic in concealing his schemes. Where Claude relies on charisma to disguise his true intent, Yuri has a certain reserved elegance to shield himself from prying eyes. When he does show you his hand, even a glance, there is a purpose behind it.
I admire that skill, but I would never trust him. I presume the sentiment is mutual.
