From "I feel like I'm playing a child" to "Why don't I just give you my money" how are the members of your merry band at cards?
That’s a fitting range for my merry little band, honestly. It’s the charming titles.
I feel like I’m playing a child:
Fenris: For a man who plays cards with Varric, Donnic, and Carver every chance he gets, Fenris doesn’t seem to get any better at it. His tells are obvious after just one turn, that’s his problem. That, and he seems to know it, but he’s utterly unable to do anything about that even if he tried. Which he has.
Merrill: Isabela’s done all she can for the poor woman, but she just can’t bring herself to misdirect or bluff. Or cheat. Or lie.
Who knows, maybe you’ll surprise me:
Aveline: The trick with Aveline is you don’t think she’d be any good at it, and then it turns out she’s got a stonewall poker face. Not that I ever underestimated her, of course. I would never! Aveline doesn’t play cards much, so she’s usually pretty rusty on the rules, but when she does sit down for a round, she takes it very seriously.
Anders: He’s not bad at cards, exactly, but he’s not great either. Anders usually leaves the card table with something or another he didn’t have before. Even if that something is debt.
Carver: My darling little brother either thinks too much, giving away his plans before he’s even moved a card, or not enough, doing something rash instead and being surprised when it falls through.
Why don’t I give you my money?
Isabela: I don’t think anyone’s won against Isabela unless she let them, really. She’ll throw a round, seduce her way to a chance to win her money back, then take them for all they’ve got once they let their guards down and bet high. As long as you can run very, very fast, or at least faster than your opponent, it gets you some quick coin.
Varric: This one was close again. Peas in a pod, those two... I think I actually did see someone give Varric their money once.
