i do. he's damn sure not in it for despair, but rather for Science. the pursuit of greater knowledge. the only person he really cares about is junko, and everyone else is one hundred percent disposable. he knocks everyone out first thing just like in the original, but then he puts all kinds of recorders and trackers in their brains and their bloodstreams to measure every reaction, every deterioration they experience during his experiments-- which start out with simple things like mental retention and shock reaction but end in the mutual killing.

junko actually knows what he's planning to do before it happens, but in this case her hope is a problem-- see, since she loves him so much, part of her keeps insisting that he won't go through with it. she watches him put it all together, sees all of his effort, but the way he is with her makes her believe he won't really have the heart to do it. then she wakes up in the control room with him.
