If you asked Lydia why she was still with Mike she would probably make up an excuse like when things were good they were really good. He spoiled her, took her out and showed her off. But that would be the answer people expected of her. Lydia wasn’t really sure why she was with him, the feelings had long since disappeared and if she was honest to herself things were bad more than they were good and she wasn’t even all that attracted to Mike anymore. She couldn’t remember the last time they went out and he showed her off, or really paid all that much attention to her.
It lead to them fighting, which lead to him digging into insecurities she’d thought she berried in high school, at the end of it all she never ended up back at her dorm room, but rather she’d go to Scott’s. They’d ended up going to different schools in the same area and the trip to his place was only fifteen minutes by car. It wasn’t like this was new, or that she only spent time with him when she was fighting with Mike. Lydia spent more time with Scott most of the time than she did Mike...It was Scott she’d cheated on Mike with, five months ago. One thing had lead to another and she’d woken up in his arms the next morning, things had been a little strained since.
But here she was mascara marks on her cheeks from crying and a bruise forming on her arm from where Mike had grabbed her. She wasn’t even sure what they’d fought about this time, but it’d gotten physical so she’d bolted. Showing up at Scott’s apartment not worrying that he may be sleeping since it was late. Lydia just knew she needed to see him.
Knocking she waited, hugging herself.
