ngl i sometimes (when i'm feeling a bit mean) think of Luca Giacomelli Ferrarini's Mercutio as what the French revival thought they were doing with John Eyzen's take

I tread carefully here because i know Eyzen is a tumblr fave, and i will easily admit he has one of the best, if not THE best, Mercutio hair looks, but so much of his portrayal just feels like "heeheehoohoo i am crazy and insane and off my rocker. have i mentioned how i am crazy?" to me

Meanwhile Mercuzio has similar vibes but not as extreme as far as i see it, plus imo he just has more... idk palpable/consistent emotions?? like eyzencutio has emotions, esp in act two, they just often take a backseat to the "haha i am crazy~ and insane~" part of the portrayal

(To be fair to eyzencutio, I did go into the revival with quite high expectations due to what a fan-favourite he is-- and I do see how so many people really like him! He's just really not for me)
