it’s so frustrating bc you can and should be able to criticize a Black player and his contract. i’m not saying it's always racist to dislike a player of color. it's definitely not!

but also… i've seen the mediocre ass white players ppl welcome to their teams with open arms. without a single question about their cap hits. it's frustrating to see years of that and then it all dries up once nurse comes around. i guess i just wish ppl could spare my guy a little bit of that "yeah he sucks but he's ours now" energy

i know part of that is just being on the internet and learning to accept that ppl are going to have opinions that differ from mine and i can’t control it, and should stop trying. and getting frustrated about ppl not immediately falling in love with a guy who's been on my team for years is a little silly. it's not hurting nursey that ppl aren't excited to have him on their team! it's ok! he is making millions of dollars and he's doing what he loves, he'll be fine! ppl are allowed to dislike him!

i realize it sounds like i'm specifically calling out sharks fans but that's just the most immediate example that's bothering me. it's a #yesallhockeyfans sort of thing, you know? me included, obv. like whose contract do you question, who do you get excited to get to know...
