Betty let out a sigh and slowly pulled away from Jughead.

“Don’t go,” he mumbled, not even trying to stop her.

“I’ll be back quick. I have to answer the door for Toni.”

“No, please don’t,” he groaned. “Let’s pretend we’re not home, she’ll leave. I don’t wanna see her right now.”

“Why?”

She rolled her eyes, pushing herself away from the counter. “Look, I’m sorry about all that. I didn’t think you’d be—”

“—Desolated?” he offered easily and smiled at her irritated expression.

“I’m sick of you playing the victim, Jughead.”

“Whatever you say,” he shrugged and went to open the fridge.

“Jughead!”

Chapter 14: “Betty, I love you!”

After Jughead disappeared out the door, Betty put the glass down on the coffee table and quickly took her boots off, wincing at the fact that they were getting uncomfortable and starting to smother her feet. She couldn’t remember the last time she had felt tired like this; in a way that was good and contenting. She sighed at that, and was about to reach for her glass again, when she jerked with a sudden sense of dread and foreboding, similar to that she had felt when she had been with Jughead at his dad’s bar.

She slowly lifted her head up, her heart thumping in her chest.

This was a dream, a bad bad bad dream, Betty tried to convince herself as she gasped inaudibly, but to add to her trepidation, the undeserved tears began hurting her face, telling her she wasn’t dreaming, and she prayed to God to help her breathe as she watched him. He was only a few meters away from her, and her skin crawled at the mere thought of… it all would happen again.

Chapter 13: Encounters?!!!

Jughead jumped once and looked at Betty. “Get under the sheets and pretend to sleep!” he playfully commanded her.

“Okay,” Betty nodded then quickly followed, and Jughead chuckled at her adorable swiftness as he headed towards the door to answer it.

“Yes, mom,” he sighed, a little more mockingly than required.

“Is Betty here? I’d gone to check on her.”

Jughead raised his eyebrows sighing conspicuously, before leaning against the frame. “For heaven’s sake mom, we aren’t kids anymore, you don’t need to spy on us in the middle of the night!” he insisted pleadingly.

“So Jellybean learned this from you huh?” Gladys scoffed and crossed her arms.

Jughead winced at that. “I didn’t mean it like that I…” he sighed and took a breath, “Betty’s here, you wanna talk to her?” he asked tediously.

6. Which scenes did you cut, and which were added in Mercy?

Well… the scenes I cut…

Chapter 1: Betty and Austin’s short conversation that ends up in, her having a terrible panic attack. It was a little glimpse in Betty’s life before she’d met Toni.

Chapter 1: Toni making Jughead’s already tidy house tidy, so Betty doesn’t freak out and Jughead tries his best to make her leave.

Chapter 8: Flashbacks: Gladys forcing Jughead to apologize to the kid he had bullied.

Chapter 8: Ethel’s phone call.

Chapter 9: Flashbacks: Joani slapping Sweet Pea and Jughead losing his temper.

Chapter 10: Flashbacks: Joani telling Jughead about how much he means to her, and they promise to start anew.

Chapter 13: Lots of Clara and Betty’s conversation. Clara tells Betty to be careful around Jughead.

Chapter 13: Betty wanting to visit the graves.

And there are more but if I post, I’ll spoil the next chapters… I have a document of 20,000+ words of deleted and extra scenes because I am too scared to completely delete them, ha ha!

And added scenes… I don’t know… whatever’s there in the story.

“What are you talking about?” Jughead gasped in shock. “Betty please tell me!” He insisted but sighed when he noticed Betty’s panicky struggle to meet his eyes. “Betty look at me.” He commanded, rather softly, she didn’t. “Betty! Betty nothing happened, you are absolutely fine! You are okay, you understand me?” He proclaimed ducking his head to meet her gaze. She slightly nodded and hiccuped, her eyes still downcast. “I’ll be back. Just don’t go anywhere, okay?” He told her firmly, watching her nod again, and left the house...
