One of my biggest irritations in Competitive play
Today, while I was playing comp (and trying to get my rank) I noticed one glaring issue, that stood out to me, above all the rest that you’d usually encounter (toxicity, trickling etc) - which was no one wanting to switch.
Even though it was obvious that a lot of the reasons why we just weren’t winning, was because no one wanted to - when asked why, they’d either give some stupid, petty excuse, to say that they didn’t know how to play anyone else (that’s alright if your good at a particular hero, but please, please expand the heroes you know how to play and well), it wasn’t in their range of characters (understandable), or just not giving an explanation and saying no.
For example, for a few games I couldn’t play my main because other people picked her, so I opted for a tank. When our Mercy wasn’t rezzing or damage boosting, I asked her to and she died - but then she went RIGHT BACK to ONLY HEALING.
I asked her to switch so that *maybe* the other person asking to Mercy or I could be her, so we could hopefully have a better chance of winning, only for me and everyone else to be called “dumbasses” and muted all of us.
If someone asks you to switch, and if you know it’s not working, and you realize that either someone could do a better job as that hero, or they could do without the hero your using because it’s holding everyone else down, please, please do.
And most importantly, please don’t flip out and insult the person or people that asked you to - be respectful!
