I’m an Orisa main, but play Mercy whenever my team needs a healer. So, whenever I can play Orisa, I make sure to thank my healer profusely for their heals, thank them for picking a healer so I didn’t have to, try to stay in their line of sight, and always try my best ro help them if they’re in a pickle. (Just from thanking them early on, sometimes I get a pocket Ana or Mercy! And as Orisa, a nano boost or power boost help IMMENSELY.)
One quick play game on Nepal Sanctum, it just was me and a Mercy on point. Everyone else was either dead or deep in enemy lines, and I was being attacked by a Soldier and an Ana. The Mercy was doing her job very well, power boosting and healing me when I needed it while hiding behind a wall. Eventually, my shield went down, but not before I take out the Soldier. I watch the Ana run to the windows around the point for a second only to see a Widow aiming right for Mercy. My shield was on cooldown, but Fortify was not.
So, I pulled a literal “Get down Mr. President” for my Mercy, jumping in front of her as I took the headshot and attempted to HALT! The Widow into the pit. It didn’t work, as she grappled to safety. Then, that Widow, a Tracer, and a D.Va all took both of us down and recaptured the point. Our other teammates were already on their way to the point, recapturing it best they could without a healer. Meanwhile, the Mercy was thanking me profusely in chat. Once I respawned, I walked toward the point while watching for the Mercy. She pocketed me for the rest of the game. It was great. We won after another round, all thanks to a game-saving rez by the Mercy.
Moral of the story. It doesn’t hurt to have a healer, and it never hurts to help your healer. Even if you have to jump in from of them to take the shot, do it. It might just be worth it.
