In which life goes on, despite the size of one's television...
Not too much has changed for Penthesilea Ayar, except her address and a little extra plushness on her derrière that didn't seem to want to shake itself off since the birth of Magnus.
But what does an Amazon Queen expect from a son? Always an ill omen.
Of all the Ayars, it was perhaps Meredith that adjusted the best, making friends with Safiya De la Cruz and throwing herself with relish into the tasks of childhood.
Kon found himself with little time for moping, left alone during the day with wild child Magnus.
It was a lot of fun chasing the the boy around all the time, but also it made Kon really, really tired!
Not that he would ever be too tired to cook in his underpants! Magnus really liked pancakes; it was totally worth getting spattered by hot stuff in his hot stuff.
Of all the Ayars, it was probably Regina who was having the hardest time with the move. She'd been used to a certain kind of lifestyle...
...and now she had to share a bedroom with her little sister. That definitely didn't fit in with her lifestyle expectations.
Regina found herself full of resentment, and really really angry with everything and everyone. She needed to get away from them all, but it was so hard in such a tiny house, with such a big family.
Regina took to going for long walks.
One day, she went a bit farther than normal, and found herself on a lonely beach near a pier.
The Ayar girls in their natural environment...I wasn’t fooled by Regina’s smile either, it didn’t last long :D
Believe it or not, Regina is a goofball who loves the outdoors? (What!)
Meredith rolled genius for her childhood trait; well, she sure didn’t get that from her father...
In which everyone finds togetherness, separately...
There are more smiles at the breakfast table these days, and it seems that, for the most part, the Ayar Tribe has found an equilibrium in leading separate lives.
Regina, while still eschewing the company of her family, has taken a sudden interest in learning the guitar, and was surprised to find she was quite good.
"A natural!" Her newest friend had declared.
A secret friend.
A special friend.
Not that she was worried her parents would disapprove of this new friend, they were both too absorbed in their own lives to have an opinion, after all.
Penthesilea, for her part, has finally caught a lucky break at work in the Investitures Department.
Being a Trader is definitely a big job, and it takes her focus off of her home life even more, but it seems to her like Kon and the kids get on just fine on their own!
With Magnus in school, however, Kon finds himself at loose ends.
All the fun things he used to enjoy doing during the day--well, they just weren't that fun anymore.
Kon thought maybe he should try some new stuff--but the new stuff really wasn't any better.
Kon: "Why is everything so boring, Merry?"
Meredith: "You're just lonely now that Mags is in school, Daddy; ask mommy for a puppy."
Kon: "A puppy--"
It didn't sound quite like what he wanted, but close...
Woopsie, those capless dormers seem to indicate we should have gone up one more level on the roofline! Oh well...here we are, back at the unnecessarily huge Ayar residence...
For a hot minute I thought I had a set of twin toddlers on my hands (the horror), but thankfully, Meredith was very close to age-up, while Magnus is the fresh one!
Kon is still a devoted father, and reads his babies to sleep at night, even if he has troubles with the big words.
But two toddlers at the same time is not my cup of tea, so after a bit more of skilling up for little Meredith...
I send Kon to do up a cake, which he decides should be prepared in the bathroom...ok bud.
Kon: “I love the bathroom, hee hee.”
Kon: “Wait...does this mean she’ll get big like the other one did?”
It’s apparent right away that Meredith heavily favours her father!
The ‘other one’, aka Regina of the Angry Faces, joins her little sister on the birthday circuit; there will be no parties in this massive house, my blood pressure can’t take it O..O
And this one heavily favours her mother! Well, these girls are both lovely, but here’s hoping that Magnus is a better blend of both parents!
And with that, we are resigned to choosing a smaller, more manageable abode for the Ayar family so that they don’t get lost and have to trek for an hour to reach a bathroom O..O
After the (riveting) show, Franco strums his guitar for Penny, trying to be a supportive friend while she stabs their Harvestfest dinner with a spoon.
It flew everywhere, but she (and her level 1 cooking skill) seemed pretty confident that all was well.
And so it was! Everyone crowds around the kitchen island instead of sitting out on the veranda, but they had a nice time! Raet seemed a little down the entire time, and didn’t socialize very much... maybe she just misses her kids?
Regina and Meredith sat outside on the swing chair and were, as usual, so cute it hurts.
Kon remembered to be thankful for his new best friend before the De la Cruz’s went home... and well you should, Mr. Ayar! I have yet to make a friend who was willing to come clean my house for free O..O
