Hildegard Christine stream notes
alw memorial waterpark during prestream
@wismoth VHSBOOTS <333 @heyitszev: found footage phantom is best phantom
apparently Meredith Braun was in muppet christmas carol! As the past love interest
@warpweight: another less-starched nurse wimple.... need to create a timeline of the wideness over the years
@beyond-this-illusion: I feel like pre mid-2000s boots are all the more impressive, because VHS cameras were BIG. Like, the compact camcorders didn't come in until at least early/mid 2000s.
[on chandelier] @warmunspokensecrets: technically this one (if Broadway) is Ruthie II [apparently Ruthie 2 was the name of the chandelier used in Broadway, a replica of the Paris Opera House chandelier named for director Hal Prince's longtime associate, Ruth Mitchell; "every replica production chandelier had a name (and they generally followed the Ruthie ## nomenclature), skipping Ruthie 13 for superstitious reasons. Ruthie I is london’s (pre-covid) chandelier; ROC one was called Maria]
@litloverscorsetlaces: This boot feels like autumn leaves and knit sweaters. And When Harry Met Sally
@sarinrose: when the cozy door closes a horny window opens
@warpweight: i love how often she's just smiling like she's seeing cartoon butterflies and shit around her @funeral-lilies: Babygirl has issues. She has a fiesta with strange purple aesthetics and dead birds. @backlitmademoiselle: she's unsettling & i love her for that
she feels very much like the book Christine unhinged
@warpweight: that slow quiet lead up to angel omg. she is soooo having hildegard visions
Meredith Braun's Christine
@motelpearl: christine is canonically a weird girl she has one friend she believes in ghosts and angels
@lonlonranching: she’s giving such gothic protagonist like all up until this point you’re like oh she’s crazy talking about this angel and then it really does turn out its a guy in the walls talking to her
@funeral-lilies: Her voice is incredible it went from breathy and high to softer yum
@funeral-lilies: That certain Je ne se fuck [on Phantom]
@wismoth: imagine the mold on your walls becomes this guy. you bet your ass I'm having a night beneath a moonless sky w him
@flora-gray: He actually ends the second kiss because he can't stand her big open eyes anymore
@Flora-Gray: You can't tell me this woman would faint at that doll @songdancepsychopaths: she has her own mannequin of erik lol
@glassprism: Meredith Braun is such a fun Christine, she acts simultaneously like an excited 9 year old and a horny teenager
Weirdstines count: @wheel-of-fish: sarah brightman original weirdstine @motelpearl: emilie kouatchou is a good weirdstine @GlassPrism: I thought Emilie was a relatively normal Christine, though I still enjoy her. But I've got Sarah Brightman, Meredith Braun, and Lauri Brons as my standard for weird Christines and they are VERY weird
@warpweight: i really liked every time sarah brightman stared right down the barrel of the camera in the proshot. on one level i was like "did someone direct her to do this" but on another level it was like oh her ass just perceives the audience! fourth wall who!
cool Romanian non-replica version of ballet from @glassprism
@GlassPrism: As one reviewer said, Meredith's Christine is going to poison his oatmeal one day; someone's also said how this C/R would get divorced in a week, and I can see that
@heyitszev: weighted blanket raoul [AIAOY]
@from-aldebaran: She pops up behind Erik in the angel
Celina talked about the Peter Karrie influence on Davies's Phantom
Meredith Brown has become my personal favourite Christine, she just feels so unhinged, dreamy and in tune with Erik at the same time; Celina says she played a year or so, around 1999-2000
That sobbing in AIAOY reprise! Genuinely terryingly kid-like, impossible not to want to hug and console him
@sarinrose: zev apparently mc [Michael Crawford] used to hump the angel statue sometimes during this scene. and I wish more of them would do that
@warpweight: omg nooo he's breaking the migratory bird treaty actttt [on Red Death]
[Christine in Twisted every way] @wheel-of-fish: she looks mildly turned on
[on why Michael Crawford proshot is only in the NYC libary] @GlassPrism: They keep copies of most every Broadway show in the last few decades for historical purposes. I believe for Phantom it's just the OBC, but other places like in the UK might have other proshots. But I don't think they're available for viewing. Like a 2003 proshot of JOJ was filmed and is at the V&A Museum
@GlassPrism: It was around from 1990 to 2002 in the West End, and they used it in the restaged US tour
Far-reaching
Christine just enjoying herself immensely in PONR. Like, smiling all the way through, looking like she reached a catharsis at some point, all while sounding a bit like an uninged teen. Up until she almost wakes up, and gradually grows actually scared
@backlitmademoiselle: i think a weirdstine holds the capability to flay him with her words with a precision others could maybe not [on the 'it's in your soul..' in the Final lair]
@GlassPrism: Yes Peter Karrie is the warring ducks guy
@GlassPrism: Yeah from what I read in reviews, her Wishing really was her growing up and shedding her childishness, which for Meredith, means she's now sick of everyone in her life
Davies is so good at sobbing; there was an incoherently sobbed out phrase after the ring return, I heard 'don't go please', Celina "don't leave me"
Also, it's public! part 1, part 2
A small (and by no means complete) collection of phantoms going Above and Beyond the Call of Horny

December 9th this song (“When Love is Gone”) is back in the version of the movie streaming on Disney +!
I didn’t love the song growing up. I thought Mighty Ducks was cinema. I don’t know what to tell you. But then two things happened:
1. After I saw “Phantom” in live in San Francisco for the first time…I was seeing Christines everywhere. My family understandably told me to settle down but here’s the thing, was I wrong in this case? NO I WAS NOT. Meredith Braun hive rise. Had she played Christine at the time I was hollering about this? That’s actually not important, what’s important is that eventually I was right.
2. I got old (I did a self-ageism 🥲 don’t @ me) and changed my mind. It just feels off without it. It’s some truly wonderful acting from Michael Caine and never forget that he’s doing all this surrounded by people with foam creatures on their hands. I know many people KNOW the story but if you’re watching through it’s a pretty significant emotional beat that is almost entirely eliminated. Yes this is a thing I care about as an adult.
3. Cast a whole Christine Daaé and then eliminate her song? Clownery…
Anyway. This delights me. I don’t see another adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” unseating this as my favorite and it has remained my favorite holiday fiLme for a long time now, so. Just a nice thing to find out in the middle of my work week. I’d heard something about it last year but happy to see it’s finally being put back in.
Now back to making untoward edits…
With it getting closer to the holidays, and the announcement of Disney+ adding the version of Muppet Christmas Carol with When Love is Gone, I figured I’d share this article I found, for people like me who don’t have D+!
I haven’t bought the DVD here (sent it to my mom as a Christmas present idea lol), but the article seems recent enough. It’s from last year, but the link still works, and I can’t imagine Amazon would’ve changed the content of the DVD in a year.
Here's the instructions on how to find the full version of the Muppet Christmas Carol missing scene with Belle singing the song When Love is
