Intro

Meredith Allesium is my pen name for original fiction so as a long-time anime fandom lurker, writer, and enthusiast, I decided that I need another blog and made this one with the whole intention of getting back into original fiction.

To understand why getting back, you need this critical info: I went on a hiatus to rewrite one of my original WIPs more than a year ago. Never did finish the rewrite lol (got sidetracked with rl and writing fanfics XD) but I'm back and, while the mentioned WIP is slowly being polished, I have new one cooking.

The main site where I publish my stories is Wattpad.

I will be posting some of the excerpts, summaries, and art (covers mostly) of my stories. Also, I wanted to compile all the useful writing tips and resources I can find on tumblr (you'll be able to find them on my blog under the tag #writing tips).

Connecting to other writers is one of my goals so hello!

Oh, yeah, almost forgot to mention: I'm mostly writing fantasy/urban fantasy.

Uh oh, I feel a revival of my Narnia hyperfixation coming on 🤗

Yo it's been like 9 or 10 years since I was obsessed with Narnia, I mean I've always loved it but after reading an Edmund fan fic the other day I have the urge to reread all the books and already started rewatching the movies. Wanting to start watching bts again too😅 I forgot how much I love this series

Second day of classes, and I just had to read a short story about a woman who starts breastfeeding the devil to save her baby.

If this is an indication of what my last semester of undergrad is gonna be like, I’m a bit concerned.

Ever since those season 1 scripts were released, I can’t stop thinking about how annoyed Bellamy must have been with himself for falling for Clarke Griffin.

Like, every little thing she did that he admired, anytime she made him smile even as she was thwarting his plans, every time she knew what he was thinking and believed he was a better man than what he was making himself out to be, and every time, Bellamy thinking ‘goddamnit’....

This tiny, blonde, storm of a girl who wouldn’t take any of his shit, who he was trying to hate and ‘goddamnit’ he went and fell in love with her instead what the hell Blake-

It’s 2:30 am. The train is passing through like it should with its clanging on the tracks.

That constant is comforting. When I graduate from Converse and leave Spartanburg for the first time in my life, I might think wistfully of the regularity of the 2:30 and the 5 am trains. My whole life long, tracks ran behind my schools and my house to carry in coal and dyes and chemicals and cotton. On the outbound trains, we send textiles and poor, weary people.

One old line was recently abandoned. Now grass grows over the Drayton Mill Village line and vines creep around the trestle bridge in Converse Heights. That trestle always scared me. My father drove under it every morning he took me to elementary school. There’s a ghost there. I wonder if the ghost man feels lonely or vindicated now that his train abandoned him.

I, too, will move on to somewhere new where abandoned textile mills and train tracks don’t hold as much significance. Where names like Montgomery and Cleveland and all their monied branches don’t rule a kingdom of the undereducated.

My outbound train is coming soon enough.

2018 Book Recs

Hey all! So, those of you who don’t know me well may not know that I like to read. A lot. But since most of my friends and family don’t like to read as much as I do, I often have a ton of book recommendations, but no one to recommend them to. Soooo, I decided what the heck and thought I’d share a few I’ve read so far in 2018 here for any of you that might be interested. I tend to read mostly fantasy, but my taste overall is pretty diverse- there’s basically a bit of everything except chic lit romance here (just not my thing.) Drifters and Grifters

I have a fondness for finding people like others find stray cats. Three of my most colorful friends are society’s stray people, haunting familiar places and unable to be pinned down. I want to write about all three of them, but there’s no concise way to do it, so settle for one. Ben is a childhood friend who I haven’t seen in years. We keep up on Facebook and he occasionally goes after people who harass me online. I’ve lost track of how many times he was in juvie, but I think now he’s gone to real jail, too. Even for all that hardship and for the tough circumstances in which he was raised, he is the most kind and genuine person I’ve ever met. He’s now a yoga instructor, body painting model, fire eater, and writes and produces “flow” music which is often inspired by birdsong. He drifts around the Knoxville, TN area when he’s not on some trek around the country for enlightenment or in India where he studied under some famous yogi. I still don’t think that Ben has a constant place to live, but knowing him has given me a different perspective on life and reworked my thoughts on what I need to live and how others live their lives vastly different from mine.
