Blood of Zeus - A Small Review

I'm still playing around with how I want to format these little reviews, but definitely let me know if you prefer seeing them one way or another.

*Ahem*

A brief description of the book with no spoilers:

Maximus, who is abnormally strong and TALL, is a young English Lit Prof. He knows he's not normal, has no idea why he's not normal, and just continues on day to day.

Kara is a half-demon, and she knows it. She is also part of the Valari family, who are a socialite family of Hollywood that can be found in the media at least once a week. She'd rather keep her life to herself and just be a normal university student.

As is the usual in these tropes, Kara goes into her English Lit class, and BAM! Instant magnetism to her professor.

Neither know why (at first) they're attracted to each other, but she's willing to play with the fire, while he's trying to keep his life the same as it was.

My thoughts:

Spice Ranking: Lvl 2

My reasoning for this is due to the fact that there are only two spicy scenes, and those scenes are SUPER glossed over.

However, the book as a whole is well worth the read!

When I first started reading I wasn't sure I'd continue, merely because the attraction happens between the two characters rather immediately. I'm also not the biggest fan of the trope where one of the characters is dramatically refusing to give in.

But the overall plot kept me sucked in, and it was such a juicy drama fest, that I was giving play-by-play to @domesticandlovingmonsters

Especially in the last half of the book when a character that can be considered the antagonist shows up, and started dropping lines that had me slapping my couch and kicking my feet.

The supernatural capabilities of the characters was rather underplayed (but I can see it being ramped up in the second book.) So if you're not big on the exaggerated powers part of Paranormal romance, then I'd say this is a good fit.

In conclusion I highly recommend this book for it's drama, as well as for Max' best friend who is an amazing comedic relief character to set off Max' angst.

My Review

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This anthology was absolutely delightful! It’s a collection of fourteen short, new stories from fourteen different authors. Some of my favorite authors, and some that were brand new to me.

I’m a huge fan of rockstar romance stories, and I loved how music was such a big part of the stories. They’re all different, from high school sweethearts to instant connections, but they’re all so well-written and the storylines are so charming, spicy, and captivating. I couldn’t put them down! I laughed, I swooned, and I was hooked from the very first page.
