November Thriller Series Recommendations

November to early December is the perfect chilly/spooky season here, so here are some series I'd recommend (all spoiler free):

All her fault A mother goes to pick-up her son after a playdate, but finds out that family never even heard of him, posing the question of who took her son and why? The why was answered in a truly unexpected way, so that particular plot twist was something I did not see coming.

Untamed Set in Yosemite National Park, a body is found that can't be identified. I initially watched for the plot, but honestly continued to watch because the filming locations were gorgeous. Definitely the best series in terms of visuals and soundtrack.

The Beast in Me A writer with her own struggles decides to base her new book on her rich, new notorious neighbour who seems to be the main suspect in his wife's disappearance. Plotwise a solid 10. Apparently there are talks of a 2nd season but I think that would serve no purpose as the 1st season ended on a solid and complete note.

The Better Sister Chloe, a succesful magazine owner, has a seemingly happy life with her son and husband, who passes away under very very odd circumstances. Then her sister gets thrown into the mix, and the plot takes an interesting direction.

Down Cemetery Road It starts with a seemingly random disappearance after an explosion, but quickly turns into an entire intrigue and a rabbithole of plot twists. I just started watching this and so far I quite like it.

Nine bodies in a Mexican morge Nine people end up stranded in a jungle after a plane crash and unpleasant chaos ensue. Interesting premise but it leans in a tad too much into the horror element, so it was not that pleasant of a watch. The big reveal while 100% unexpected, was not that satisfying. The ending however, was very much a solid finish as it really closed the book on that chapter.

Crow girl Unidentified bodies start showing up with a very odd factor in common. DCI Kilburn investigates, along with Dr Craven. A very unexpected ending despite quite a bit of foreshadowing but as this is only the 1st season, I still have a lot of questions as some mysteries remain unsolved. It's based on a book series, so that'll definitely go on my reading list

Haunted Hotel (Sitcom)

Totally love this show! Was really funny and interesting! I give it 5/5 ⭐. It only has 10 episodes and I watched it all in one day. I definitely recommend this one, it's truly very good! Hoping for a second season soon 🤞🏻🤩

P.S. I love Abaddon! He's definitely my fav character in the show and omg he was so amazing in the last episode! Started liking him even more after that episode.

Recommendation of the Week. #6: The Dragon Prince

Personal Opinion:

The Dragon Prince is many things: It is a very multifaceted series, instead of limiting itself to being a conventional fantasy & epic adventure, it takes the time to delve almost poetically into the psyche of its characters and make it clear that there are no conventional "villains" or "heroes", but imperfect people full of fears and marked by their past.

It is a series that is aware of its limitations, whether in the technical or rating aspects (at least in the first 5 seasons), but still manages to overcome its own limitations, offering a beautiful visual aspect, impactful scenes, and a very well-achieved progressive evolution of tone.

It's a story that was crafted with great care and attention to detail; it's one of those shows where every time you watch it, you notice a new detail that will contribute to something future. But also, it knows how to take full advantage of its diverse media; whether it's the spin-off stories, graphic novels, or games, everything is developed while maintaining something that many other multimedia franchises fail at: a impeccable coherence and a clear focus on the main product (the series), so that the additional media complement the story but aren't essential for understanding and enjoying it.

It's a series you can expect a lot from, and it usually delivers: it can be heartbreaking, emotional, ridiculous, intelligent, or epic, making the experience of watching it in its entirety a true journey.

The biggest negative point I can make, besides the fact that the humor can sometimes feel intrusive or careless, is the dip in quality when transitioning from one arc to another., because there was a drastic drop from season 3 to season 4, but fortunately, this was resolved as the new story progressed.

So yes, if you can, give it a chance, and if you like it, support its creators so they can bring us "The Dragon King," a sequel series that will delve deeper into the loose ends left by the original story.
