                  Well, here they go --- every time Dirk ventures the erroneous assumption of having completed the world’s single most distinguished list of things he would very muchly like his customers not to do on a case, fortune whips ‘round on its heel and clobbers him with yet another client-y behaviour to disapprove of. This week, it’s hissing. Yes, he’s really quite decidedly averse to being hissed at, he concludes after a second of taken-aback staring. Not least because the sound is wont to resurface certain painful memories intricately linked to that very unfortunate incident with the magic goose that unfolded just a few weeks ago. 

                  “ Er, yes. Find sister. I did promise - wonderful demonstration of a functioning short-term memory, by the way, I hope it’ll remain intact even when we get to the you-paying-me-back-bit! But I’m just saying ... listen! We need to be very careful, to the point of pedanticism, about how we approach our search! And this means, as I’m sure I’ll never have to repeat again, absolutely no hissing when we’re trying to hide! ”

i’d love to do more pre-serum stuff! i haven’t gotten a chance to write that a lot and i really want too! i’d also like to write more with steve dealing with the events of IW and how he handles that.
