You should do all the even numbered questions for the book ask thing. :P
Hey there. I’m sorry. I’m actually answering this 5 months after you asked it. Mainly cause I am trash and garbage. But pls forgive. Anyway, here goes.
2: Describe the last scene you read in as few words as possible. No character names or title.
I don’t remember the last scene of a book I read because the book I’m reading right now is pretty meh and I can’t be stuffed. So I’m gonna go with fanfic, and um. Well. Fluffy. Super. Fluffy.
4: Quick, you're in desperate need of a fake name. What character name do you think of first?
Shadow Moon? That’s a terrible fake name. Tristan. Tristan Thorn.
6: Public library or personal library?
Both. There’s this library at uni which is kinda the perfect in between. Most public libraries I go to have an air of pristineness to them. This one, it’s old. Some of the comfy chairs have little holes with the stuffing showing. There’s a room full of bean bags for napping. And the shelves are chock filled with non-study books. It’s exactly what I want my personal library to be, if I had the funds to make it such.
8: Why are you reading the book you're currently reading?
I heard the series was good. I am still holding hope for it, but this book is rather meh.
10: Do you listen to music when you read? Make a mini playlist for one of your favorite books.
I’m afraid I do not listen to music when I read.
12: Tell one book story or memory (what you were wearing when you were reading something, someone saw you cry in public, you threw a book across the room and broke a window, etc.)
I remember reading the end of Shada, the Doctor Who book, and just laughing my ass off at the cheek of Douglas Adams (or maybe this was a Gareth Roberts touch) at the end of the book. I was in a bus and the whole bus just turned to look at this strange man laughing to death in the corner. I didn’t stop.
14: Favorite item of book merch.
My American Gods tee. It’s the blue one from Out of Print Clothing.
16: Rant about anything book related
.....pls. Half my entire tumblr is me ranting about how glorious everything Neil Gaiman does is. Go search.
18: Favorite booktuber(s)
20: A character you like but you really, really shouldn't.
SO many. The Lord Ruler in the Mistborn series. Gollum in LoTR. And, does Snape count? I mean, I absolutely detest the man, but hot damn are he and Dumbledore some of the best written characters of our generation.
22: A movie or tv show you wish would have been a book
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm that is a tough question. I don’t think there is one tbh. Like, cinema and books are very different mediums and a good movie might not often translate to a good book, and any movie I love I generally love how they play with the medium too, so yeah. I usually consider it a package deal.
24: First book(s) you remember being obsessed with
Harry Potter, and Deltora Quest
25: A book that you think about and you cringe because of how terrible it was
The Princess Bride. I’M SORRY I know a lot of people love it but like, I just did not like it. I could rant for ages on why but I’d rather not.
26: Do you read from recommendations or whatever book catches your eye?
Recommendations, usually. I realised a while ago that I generally need at least 2 trusted recommendations before I’ll try out a book. Idk why my brain subconsciously decided that two is a good number, but here we are.
27: How/where do you purchase your books?
Usually BookDepository. But then, if it’s a book i really want, and the difference between the price at my favourite indie shop (The Paperback Bookstore) and BookDep isn’t too much, I’ll buy from the indie.
Or at 3 for 2 sales at Dymocks.
28: An ending you wish you could change
Prince Caspian. Loved the movie ending. Hated the book.
29: Favorite female protagonist.
30: One book everyone should read
The Prophet - Kahlil Gibran
Ummmmmmmmmm don’t really have one of either in literature. Actually, NoTP would be Richard and Door in Neverwhere, because dear God I love their purely platonic friendship. I thought Gaiman would make it romantic initially and I wouldn’t have minded tbh, but I just love it so much more as a platonic thing.
34: Scariest book you ever read.
I don’t read scary books. I haveread a terrifying short story or two though. Click Clack the Rattlebag - Neil Gaiman is a favourite.
35: What do you think of Ebooks.
Love em. Not as much as a hardcopy, but I love having all my favourite books in my kindle, a touch away whenever I’m not home.
Princess Bride is a shit book.
38: What qualities do you find annoying in a character?
Good question. Vapidity. A vapid, boring, whiny character who does nothing and just needs to be saved.
The slow descent of an author into capitalistic greed.
40: Has there ever been a book you wish you could un-read?
