OFMD S2 Episode 3 - The Innkeeper
doodling on the phone
In honor of MerMay, here's my Merman!Stede AU!!
Snippit:
In his youth, he stuck to the warm shallows and hidden coves, safe from his father's judgmental eyes and the strong current his mother said would drag him away. Now, older and either more confident or less afraid of death, he drug himself on his hands in the sand, deeper until he could flex his tail fully and take off.
It was simultaneously easy and unfamiliar, the way his serpentine tail flicked behind him and his thin fins trailed behind him like ribbons or flaring sleeves or the train of a luxurious dress. It only took a few powerful strokes and he was past where the crew would be able to easily sight him. Stede angled himself down and dove right past a lazy school of stingray, signing an apology as he went.

Ed couldn't contain himself, he pressed a hand to Stede's cheek and drew his face up to meet his own. His kind eyes were shiny and red with tears, his nose was running, and he had a blooming bruise on his jaw, but Stede had never looked more lovely.
Their faces got closer and closer together until they shared their breath in the scant space separating them. "You fucking lunatic," Ed muttered, feeling a startled little laugh puffed out against his lips. Ed let his eyes slip shut and went to close the gap–
But sandpaper against his knee had him rear back in shock. "Dickfuck! What was that?”
