ALT ZADR WEEK Day Two - Species Swap AU

Decided to draw these two from an AU I came up with a few years ago on Twitter. Zim is a water snake naga and Dib is a merman. This drawing is also for Mermay, which I am totally not late on at all lol. There are two versions - one where Zim has pupils (?) and the other without

Mermay Day 10:

"Strangely, son, your DNA hasn't changed at all from before. As though the Piscine DNA has always been there. Which can't be right, I never used any DNA besides my own when I made you and your sister... At least I don't think I did. Did I? Hm... Maybe I should check my notes again? It's been a while since then..."

This story also works from the idea/theory that Prof. Membrane cloned himself to make his kids (yay, test tube babies!) And he may be an amazing man but, as the saying goes, "the old memory is the first thing to go." XD

(More story getting hinted~)

Also, Piscine is one of the fancy/scientific terms for fish and comes from the Greek word "Pisces".

Mermay Day 7;

"Dad? Dad! We can't leave yet! What if the cure is here?!"

"Son, I've said this many times but there is no such thing as magic. There is nothing on this beach that could have caused this! The answer lies in science! We need to back to the lab as soon as possible and start running tests."

"Do we even have anything big enough to hold me?"

"... Don't worry, son. I'll get something set up."

Mermay Day 6;

Gaz told him to get his butt onto the beach while she went to get some help, with a look on her face that said there would problems if she came back and he wasn't there. She did not mention who she would be getting.

Dib wishes he was back in the water.

Prof. Membrane is confused and exasperated. But mostly confused.

I felt like inking this picture, so I did. I used a brush (like) pen to make the lines look more interesting.

Mermay Day 13:

Zim has never been a very... SYMPATHETIC alien to Dib. I doubt that's going to change anytime soon.

Even if Zim and water have never mixed.

Mermay Day 16:

Word of advice folks, don't get on the nerves of the alien giving you a free ride in his space ship. Otherwise, when it's time for you to get out, he may decide to THROW you out.

I've never done mermay before, so I decided to try it this year. It's rough right now, but I might clean it up and color it later.

I've been on an Invader Zim binge so I used one of the characters from it for the picture. So now Dib is a Merperson.

I wonder how that happened.

Mermay Day 8:

"Oh, quit pouting, Dib. Dad said this wouldn't be permanent. It's just until he can set up a 'proper' tank for you."

"That doesn't mean I have to like it, Gaz."

Gaz keeping her grumpy, half-fish brother company while their dad sets up a (hopefully) more comfortable tank for him. He won't admit it, but Dib's glad that he isn't being left to his lonesome right now.

Although, Gaz is probably going to have a sore butt later from sitting on the floor for so long.
