June 2, 2019 - Asian Green Bee-eater or Little Green Bee-eater (Merops orientalis)
These bee-eaters are found in southern Iran, South Asia, much of northern Southeast Asia, and southern China. They feed on bees and wasps, beetles, termites, moths, flies, and other insects, usually catching them in flight. Like other bee-eaters, they often beat their prey against a branch before eating it to break the exoskeleton and remove stingers. Pairs nest in loose colonies, digging long burrows in earth or sand banks.
