my mother's spirit is in her hair
my mother's spirit is in her hair
she leaves it on the clothes she wears
and when I wear it, she is there
And when she drops it on the ground
there in that room she can be found
my mother's spirit is in her hair
my mother's spirit is everywhere
My sister's spirit is in her hair
my sister's spirit is in her hair
tis red against her skin so fair
tis bright against her skin so fair
and when she used to brush it out
I found her spirit all about
It lies on chairs and windowsills
where I could go and find her still
My inner wonders, childlike dreams
my open heart and torn out seams
The twirling of a tiny thread,
around my finger, from my head
My spirit follows with my hair
my spirit follows with my hair
As through the earth it roams and blows
then with the wind my spirit goes
