Happy Weds HOMEee’s (get it?) Turn off the news and build a garden. As the years have gone by, founding the Mesa Urban Garden with a group of willing dreamers, has continually resonated in my mind as an important piece to my life and development. The community that came together around educating and learning sustainable practices, what it means to grow food and building a place for community is becoming ever more necessary. I am lucky to have parents and family members who are very able and hands on, do’ers and teachers. I’ve seen some countries, during times of crisis issue bikes to everyone, issue seeds and tools along with maybe some sort of stimulus. I’ve let my personal garden go over the years as all my gardening went to the Mesa Urban Gardening and really I’m just a bystander and supporter of what it’s become thanks to Laurie Butler and David Crummey and lots of volunteers. Turn off the news and build a garden. Get a chicken or two. Learn to build and sew some things. Any small way to supplement your family and your community. You’ll be surprised what becomes currency in hard times. This weekend I’ll be getting my home garden back together. Thank you all for inspiring me. The internet has just about every instruction you could ever want. Include your kids.
