Mess Sergeant Gardner is the perfect example of how someone can fall into the grasps of a terrorist organisation like Cerberus.
You get someone who's become lost in their life, is likely angry at everything, and is let down by their communities immediate ability to pick them up back up again.
Then an organisation like Cerberus can sweep them up saying they can help them. Getting them to do whatever they want them to do, all in the name of getting back at whatever caused them grief.
You go from someone who's lost everything, to someone who's fighting against everything, with no understanding of the wider implications of their actions.
