Whatsapp? Facebook Messenger? Hangouts? Viber, WeChat, Line, Talkray, you name it and the tech world has apps starting with all the 26 alphabets. Many even claim to have hundreds of millions of users.
There is a war going on, who will be the first to reach a billion users. But from a user's point of view, all these apps have almost same features, text, photo, smiley and voice messaging are the common ones, few have Voice and Video calling as well, but all these apps have same purpose, letting you connect with people you care about.
So, which one is the best? The one which is used by people you care, and that's Whatsapp for me right now, it does't have all the features a perfect messaging app should have, but then the it is the one used by people around me.
When I installed Whatsapp on my Nokia N97mini back in 2009, I was the first one among my circle to be on it, I uninstalled and started using it again in 2011 when a few of my close friends were on it.
It currently shows 110 contacts on Whatsapp out of my 200 phone contacts. Out Maid, Electrician, our 70 year old Doctor, relatives from my village, everyone is there, sharing photos, forward messages and odd voice messages.
Even though Whatsapp is currently the best messaging app for me, I would love to be on the app which is also available on PCs. Hangouts and FB Messenger is very close to it, I even use them, but it cannot be the only app I will be using to connect with the closest friends, because, I think it will be tough to convince them to move to another app once again.
Which one works for you?
