MyHomework
This one is definitely an old-school favorite for me. I’ve been using it for a couple of years now, mostly through my iPad and laptop, and it was one of the first apps I downloaded onto my phone.
When I get bored, I go into the Play Store and download apps. I did all this before the semester started and I’ve been filling up seven—yes, seven—different apps with homework assignments, exam dates, and whatever else my professors have decided to throw my way. A couple are old favorites, there’s definitely a new favorite in this mix, and because I have so many, I figured I’d do some reviews of study apps! There are definitely a lot out there, and why not help someone out in the meantime?
Methods and Materials
Methods and materials and their uses: I have used a wide range of materials such as wood, metal, plastic, polyfiller, expanding foam, wire and string. All of these materials have many different and varied uses. I mainly stuck to using wood as it is easily available for me and it is reletivley low cost. I have used wood to carve and construct different pieces of artwork. I have also casted using plaster, mod rock and algenate. I have also carved out of other different materials like polyfiller and expanding foam. I also used materials I have found and weaved them together in different ways depending on the materials. Success: I believe that my weaved face, although unfinished still has alot of potential and represents alot of my ideas very well. I also find that my large weaved pointalist piece is quite interesting although my orginal idea did not completely work i still think the piece is unique and shows many different skills. Things I have and Haven't done: I haven't finished a few of my pieces completely due to time constraints. Although the pieces arn't finished in my opinion I still think that my idea for the end product is apparent. Artists influence: David Mach, I found this artist in Manchester art gallery, his work is interesting because of the juxture poses which he uses in his work and his use of social comentry is something i find very interesting and is something i would like to use more of in my work. Gilbert and George are artists that influence my work in many different ways, their use of bold colours and large scale are quite awe inspiring. The use of themes that could be seen to some people as offensive is something I too like to put in my work. Their use of grids has had a lot of influence in my current practice. I visted Manchester art gallery, I found much of the work interesting, like the slice chair made by Mathias Bengtsson. I used the idea of the slice to give it a feel of a geological map, which I feel that it does in this piece. I enjoyed visiting Manchester art gallery, it had a large selection of work from many different times and cultures. I found this very interesting. My plans for next year: I see my work going towards souricing materials from nature, my work at the moment seems to be more craft based work ( which I would like to continue with), but I would like to move more towards making pieces on a much larger scale and with greater attention to detail. I would like to attempt carving in a more in depth way, I would also like to use more traditional methods which i am more familiar with.Explore more with using wood and different types of wood as a primary practice.
Workshops: I find the workshops very interesting and I love learning new skills that will help me progress with my work. I find working with other people in workshops difficult because I can't voice my ideas across. Although i do like hearing things from different viewpoints and hearing other peoples ideas. I enjoy learning about how other people work.
