Starting this month, Saskatchewan Polytechnic will offer a free online course in applied trades math. The self-paced, non-credit course focuses on mathematical concepts commonly used in the skilled trades and apprenticeship programs.

For anyone older than 13 years and not only useful to trades oriented students! Great way to save yourself that 30% memory loss over the summer...

Project #3

Goal : Create an infographic based on a subject of interest :

Sports, music, activism, feminism, injustice.  

 Step 1 : Pick a topic! I suggest  http://www.statcan.gc.ca for Canadian data. But you can also use http://www.censusatschool.ca/ for high school data.

Step 2: Design the goal of your message.  Do you want to change opinions? Are you trying to convince someone to buy your product?

Step 3: Open a presentation style with which you are comfortable. You can explore these sites or use glogster/wix/comic life/powerpoint/etc.  https://infogr.am/en, http://piktochart.com/ , https://www.canva.com/create/infographics/

Step 4: Look at these websites for inspriration :

Step 5 : You will need to incorporate these principles in your infographic (some we have yet to learn)

-        Normal distribution

-        Standard deviation and z-scores

-        Confidence intervals

-        Confidence levels

-        Margin of error

 Step 6 : Complete your research with a bibliography of at least two sources, APA style.

Step 7 : Show Mme Garg a beta version by Wednesday May 6th.

Step 8: Hand in the final project on Friday May 8th.
