Writeblr Introduction

Hello to everyone! I’m a new blog that wants to become part of the whole writeblr community here...and I’m not really sure about what to write in an introduction post. So...uh...I’ll try to put together something.

I go for the pen name M. B. Corvo, (but you can call me Corvo or Crow), and I’m an Italian aspiring writer. I’m quite new in the community here even if before deciding to start this blog I followed some writing-themed blogs like prompt blogs/writing advice blogs and eyed some nice writeblrs with another account that I mostly use for shitposting and ranting and fandom things.

After a long thought, I decided that I could try making a writeblr and seeing if it could help me to get over my long-lasting writer’s block that is ruining all my ongoing projects: I have a lot of ideas for plots and characters, but I always end up looking at a blank page or setting everything aside.

I always loved writing. I started writing some crappy and ugly fanfictions during middle school and then during high school, I started writing something that was really my own...even if it was cringe-y and full of errors. But I loved it when I was writing it. As the years were passing - even with the block - I found myself really enjoying the worldbuilding part of my works in progress. Maybe because I always loved studying for the things I liked, I think.

I also always loved reading. I started with fantasy and horror stuff, mostly from the Goosebumps series, and growing up I also enjoyed some historical stuff, and also some “classics” that I hated when I had to study them during literature at school. I used to read a lot of books, but in the last years I had switched to comics/mangas and I’m returning to read books since last year. But I always preferred books to comics, though.

So, mostly because of my taste in reading, my main genres when I write are fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. But I can also write outside of these genres if I have the right inspiration!

I usually write in Italian since it’s my native language and I use it on daily basis but in this blog, I’ll share excerpts also in English because I’d like to improve my skill...I’m fluent enough to read an English book, but not enough fluent to write even a short story. So, I’ll use this blog as an exercise hoping for some feedback. :)

Italian vrs. under the crow!

Ciao a tutti! Sono un blog nuovo che vorrebbe far parte della community degli Scrittori on Tumblr e Writeblr...e non sono molto sicuro di cosa scrivere in un post introduttivo. Quindi...uh...improvviserò qualcosa.

Il mio pen name è M. B. Corvo, (ma potete chiamarmi semplicemente Corvo o Crow) e sono un’aspirante scrittore italiano. Sono piuttosto nuovo nell’ambiente dei writeblr, anche se prima di decidere di realizzare questo blog ho seguito diversi altri blog a tema scrittura e writeblrs tramite un altro mio account fatto solo per postare sciocchezze e cose legate a fandom e affini. 

Dopo averci pensato a lungo, ho deciso che avrei potuto realizzare un writeblr per vedere se mi avrebbe aiutato a superare il mio eterno blocco dello scrittore che sta rovinando ogni mio progetto in corso: ho un sacco di idee, ma finisco sempre col ritrovarmi a fissare una pagina bianca oppure ad accantonare tutto.

Ho sempre amato scrivere. Ho iniziato a scrivere le prime terribili fanfiction quando andavo alle medie e in seguito - durante il liceo - ho scritto qualcosa che era davvero mio...anche se era comunque terribile e cringey. Però amavo scriverlo. Col passare degli anni ho scoperto di amare - anche nei periodi peggiori del blocco - la parte di worldbuilding dei miei progetti. Forse perché ho sempre amato studiare le cose che mi piacevano. Credo.

Ho anche sempre amato leggere. Iniziai col genere fantasy e horror, soprattutto la collana Piccoli Brividi e Super Brividi assieme ad alcuni volumi di una collana intitolata “Dark Magic”. Crescendo ho imparato ad apprezzare anche alcuni romanzi storici così come opere “classiche” che avevo odiato quando dovevo studiarle a scuola durante le lezioni di letteratura. Avevo l’abitudine di leggere parecchi libri, abitudine che purtroppo persi quando anni fa passai ai fumetti e solo l’anno scorso ho iniziato a tornare a leggere libri...anche se ho sempre preferito i libri ai fumetti.

Forse per via dei miei gusti in fatto di letture, i generi che sono solito scrivere sono: fantasy, fantascienza e horror. Sono comunque in grado di scrivere al di fuori di queste categorie, se ho la giusta ispirazione!

Solitamente scrivo in italiano, dato che è la mia lingua madre e la uso quotidianamente, ma in questo blog condividerò alcuni estratti tradotti in inglese poiché vorrei migliorarlo. Il mio inglese è abbastanza fluente da permettermi di leggere un intero libro in lingua, ma non abbastanza da permettermi di scrivere nemmeno un racconto breve. Quindi, userò questo blog anche come esercizio nella speranza di ricevere qualche feedback e consiglio. :)
