BNHA 228 - Analysis

Hey y’all, I’m back from the dead. This analysis will be rather short, mainly because there’s not a lot of actual content in the chapter, but there are still some very interesting things. Here we go!

These couple of panels don’t have too much action in them, but I think they’re actually the most important ones in the chapter. Of the L.O.V. vanguard, I’d say the ones we have seen fight the least and know about the least (other than mustard kid) are the ones here -- Mr. Compress and Dabi. This section reveals a whole lot about how the both of them think. While Mr. Compress is revealed to be a very rational and intelligent fighter who keeps track of everything-- including his teammates’ positions-- Dabi’s fighting style reminds me of someone else we know. I’ll give you a hint:

Stain and Mr. Compress both said essentially the same thing -- Dabi and Todoroki rely too much on the brute force of their quirks, and neither of them have much regard for the surroundings when provoked. (I say this for Todoroki because he literally froze the entire arena and almost froze everyone watching in a little hissy fit.) The way they think when provoked into a fight-or-flight response, the way they’re angered. They are so utterly similar to each other.

Basically TL;DR more evidence for the Dabi Is A Todoroki theory.

Since we Don`t have a name for our cuddly parka wearing jawa i`m going to simply refer to him by Ice, as it save`s time constantly calling him Eskimo guy. and honestly there`s something about the way he holds himself in this opening that radiate`s power.

But never mind this let`s get into the chapter

I like the small detail of Horikoshi mentioning how Dabi didn’t immediately use his cremation with his ,ironically, cold exterior such a small detail that wouldn’t mean anything with other character`s whether it`s due to the mental trauma of his past and ice causing him to ,forgive the pun, freeze. or the association between ice and his ,most likely, mother and his feeling`s towards her.

Granted i`ve read a few fanfic`s and comics and these may be tainting my view though with so little personal insight on Dabi some leaps must be made.

Honestly it`s been too long since we had a ridiculously OP smackdown the last one ,in my opinion, was Endevour Vs High-End and this`l be hype as hell he created a GODDAMN DRAGON!!! get on that level Todoroki. 

We learn that Ice`s quirk is Cryokinesis different to Todorki`s ice generation, so the idea that he`s a Todorki is disproven at least as far as i can see and honestly it seemed too contrived for me to get behind it in the first place,

 honestly my headcannon is that he`s been genetically engineered  considering when her says “the supreme leader Gave me power” it`d also work as a foil to dabi who was also created to be a weapon though it was to surpass All Might

We cut to Twice as he stares at Toga as he finds her and his reaction and the following panel`s is one of the most heartbreaking we`ve had for a long time   

The attention to detail in this single shot is why i prefer this over the anime you can actually feel the horror twice is feeling at finding Toga like this.

maybe because I re watched the anime episode where  twice revealed his backstory recently but it`s honestly depressing especially when he tries to clean her up with her own handkerchief

I don`t care how old character`s are in a fictional universe I still ship these two though mainly due to Twice`s pure genuine kindness.

We also see that Tomoyasu Chikazoku AKA Murdok has joined the fray as his quirk allows him to turn human sized objects into puppet`s as shown by his Gorilla(z) looking bodygaurds though considering he runs a IT Company i wonder if there robot`s or just a bunch of walking mini-fridge`s. 

Honestly this panal gave me goosebumps no word`s are needed on twice`s part and honestly they`d wouldn’t do it justice the silent horror of reliving his past with just a singular guttural scream echoing across the page.

Honestly with Twice`s current emotional state and without his mask i`m thinking that he`ll split himself as has been semi-foreshadowed without it being too obvious or perhaps we`ll see what happens when you clone something without exact measurements some twisted abomination.
