A toxic friend, feat Dabi
A single person on wattpad asked me for more Dabi stuff with an abusive person in the reader's life and here I am writing this instead of requests, so I went with a toxic friend.
“Dabi! I’m going now” you yelled from the hallway as you were putting on your shoes.
Dabi was still in bed, half-asleep and quite groggy. He didn’t answer you but he could hear the door shut behind you. Dabi laid in bed for like an hour after you had left. He went through his phone and checked the news, it seemed like the bastard he had killed last night hadn’t been found yet, or maybe it had been kept quiet.
“Whatever” he muttered and got out of bed, rubbing the back of his neck and yawning.
When you got to the café where you were supposed to meet your friend, they weren’t there. You had taken the train to see them, in their city, and like usual, they didn’t even show up on time. After just standing outside for a while, it started to rain, so you stepped inside and decided to order already. You got a hot chocolate and a big chocolate chip cookie and sat down by the window. You sent your friend a message, asking when they would be there, but got no answer.
Your friend didn’t show up for another half an hour, and when they did the first thing out of their mouth was: “You ordered already, I wish you would’ve waited for me” they said, sounding like they were trying to make you feel guilty.
“Sorry, you wouldn’t answer my text so I didn’t know how long it would take you to get here” you apologized.
You went with your friend to order and decided to get another cup of hot chocolate.
“Isn’t that a bit much? I mean you already drank one cup, I’m just looking out for you. Do you know how many calories are in those” they laughed mockingly.
You felt pretty bad about their comment and decided not to get another cup after all. They always made comments like that and it had always bothered you, but they were your friend, so they meant well, right?
When you got back home later that day, you were exhausted. Hanging out with that particular friend always made you super tired. You kicked off your shoes and hung your coat in the closet. You looked around the apartment, but it seemed like Dabi wasn’t home. He was probably out on some League business again.
You went to the bedroom to change into more comfortable clothes, but when you took your shirt off, you were left looking at yourself in the mirror. Your friend had made some comments that had really gotten under your skin. At the time you had just brushed them off with an awkward laugh, but now you couldn’t get them out of your head.
“Are my arms really that fat?” you muttered as you pinched your upper arms in front of the mirror.
You kept pinching everything you could grab, all around your body, and at the end of it you could feel tears stinging your eyes. You wiped your eyes quickly and took a few wavering, deep breaths. You wouldn’t cry, you didn’t want to, it felt like if you did, you were somehow letting them win. So instead you threw on one of Dabi’s hoodies and walked to the living room and put on some shitty drama on TV.
Dabi, came back home half an hour later and found you curled up on the couch, eating chocolate. He knew that was your comfort food, so something must have been wrong.
“Hey sweetness” he said as he sat down next to you on the couch.
“Hi” you muttered, not even looking at him and put the chocolate down on the coffee table in front of you.
“Okay, I can see you’re fuckin upset about something, so spit it out” he sighed and put his arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer.
“Do you… Do you think I’m ugly?” you muttered so quietly he could barely hear you.
“Why are you asking me that? Did that “friend” of yours say something again” he growled and did air quotes on the word friend.
“I don’t understand why you even hang out with them, they sound like an ass”
“I’ve known them since kindergarten and I don’t want to just cut them off”
“Give me your phone” Dabi said after a while of thinking.
“Just give me the damn phone”
You complied with his request and handed him your phone. He seemed to be looking for something on it and you could see it in his eyes when he found whatever he was looking for. He pressed his thumb on the phone screen and held it down.
“Hey you fucktwat, if you ever make (Name) feel like shit again, I’m gonna burn you alive and send your ashes to your mom as a fucking glitter bomb, got it? So leave (Name) the fuck alone”
He released his thumb from the screen and looked at you with a grin. He seemed quite pleased with himself.
“Did you-Did you just send them a voice message?”
“What if they recognize your voice or something? Do the police know what you sound like? Have you been on the news so they could recognize your voice?” you panicked.
“Of course that would be your first thought, not the fact that I just broke you up with someone” he laughed.
“You’re an ass, you know that right? But I’d rather not have you in police custody because you got protective over me or for any other reason either” you sighed and pinched the bridge of your nose, shaking your head.
“But if I’m not protective of you, who will be?” he asked.
“I’m still mad at you for being an idiot”
“Sure you are” he smirked and kissed your forehead.
“Ass” you sighed, but relaxed against his chest nonetheless.
