You know despite Moonfish being extremely insane he’s quite cunning since he was the first villain to doge Shoto’s ice no problem and in the Second war was more threatening.
Alias/Job: Moonfish
Affiliation: Villain
Age: 33
Height: 6'0" (183 cm)
Build: Gaunt, wiry, and slender. Surprisingly muscular but appears willowy at first glance; Pale skin tone
Scars/Markings/Piercings: Scars around his mouth and lips from his quirk and various metal gags
Hair: Messy tangled black, slightly past shoulder length, worn loose when possible otherwise the League pulls it back on outings
Eyes: Light yellow
Blood Type: AB
Birthday: October 2
School: Unknown
Rank: B Class Villain
Social Hierarchy: Heteromorph (Passing)
Scent Profile: Rust, canvas fabric, iodine antiseptic, blood
Omegaverse Only: Beta
Relatives: N/A
QUIRK: Blade-Tooth
Type: Transformation
Moonfish’s quirk allows him to extend and manipulate his teeth into durable, razor-sharp blades. These can stretch dozens of meters and function like additional limbs in combat, making him a highly dangerous long-range combatant. His level of control allows for both area suppression and precision impalement.
Abilities:
Extends and articulates his teeth into flexible, whip-like blades or rigid spears that can reach dozens of meters in length.
Launches rapid barrages of tooth-blades or weaves intricate lattice traps mid-air to ensnare and shred multiple targets simultaneously.
Blades are strong enough to sever limbs, deflect explosions, and pierce reinforced materials with surgical precision.
Uses extended teeth for locomotion and support when physically restrained, effectively turning his mouth into a full-body weapon system.
Maintains full sensory feedback through every blade, allowing him to “feel” impacts and adjust angles in real time.
Can retract and redeploy blades instantly, making him exceptionally dangerous in both open-field and close-quarters ambushes.
Limitations:
Teeth remain organic matter; while exceptionally durable they can be shattered or severed by extreme force, high-heat attacks, or sufficiently powerful quirks.
Sustained or maximum-range use is biologically draining, causing rapid fatigue, bleeding gums, and risk of jaw dislocation.
Requires an open jaw to function at full capacity; any muzzle, gag, or oral restraint severely limits or completely disables the quirk.
Lacks fine precision in extremely narrow or enclosed spaces where extended blades cannot maneuver freely.
Entirely dependent on the quirk for meaningful combat; without it he is physically fragile and has almost no fallback fighting style.
Trigger-enhanced states amplify power but erode what little impulse control remains, turning him into an indiscriminate threat to allies and enemies alike.
Equipment
Heavy metal restraint hooks and gags fitted around his jaw and skull during combat deployments to prevent self-injury or friendly fire while on Trigger.
Simple canine-style muzzle with reinforced metal bars for non-combat restraint and transport, allowing limited speech while containing the teeth.
Worn canvas straitjacket-style harness that doubles as a containment suit, complete with reinforced straps and quick-release buckles.
Basic black tactical pants and boots chosen purely for durability rather than style or quirk synergy.
No personalized weapons or support gear; the League treats him as a living weapon and equips him only with whatever keeps him contained between missions.
Heteromorphic Traits
Razor sharp teeth even when retracted.
Extremely keen sense of smell, can navigate blind by scent alone.
TITLE:
Moonfish is one of the League’s most terrifying individual assets, a former death-row inmate whose crimes were so grotesque that Japan reinstated an execution order for the first time in over a decade. Escaped from maximum-security custody and reactivated as a Trigger-enhanced weapon, he exists now as a barely-leashed predator whose very presence on the battlefield turns engagements into bloodbaths. To the public he is little more than a classified nightmare; to the Hero Commission he is living proof that some monsters should never have been allowed to live. Within the League he is the ultimate deterrent: a silent, sermon-muttering horror that the others keep muzzled and chained until the moment they need the room painted red.
BACKGROUND:
Ryouji was born into a decaying rural household on the edge of a dying industrial town, the only child of a fanatically religious mother and an absent, alcoholic father who worked night shifts at a slaughterhouse. From the moment he could speak his mother filled his head with apocalyptic scripture of her own invention — a private gospel that claimed the human mouth was the last true temple left on earth and that quirks were divine mouths sent by God to judge the unworthy. She performed nightly “communion” rituals on him, pressing his face into raw meat and forcing him to recite prayers while she carved small devotional symbols into his lips and gums with a sterilized razor. Any sign of disgust or hesitation was met with prolonged isolation in a windowless prayer closet and forced fasting until he learned to associate hunger with holiness. His father, when he was home at all, contributed only violence — beatings that left Ryouji with cracked teeth and a permanent terror of closed jaws. By age nine the boy had already begun to dissociate during the rituals, whispering to himself in the dark as a way to stay present while his mother praised him for finally “opening” like the prophets of old.
The trauma compounded when his mother’s mental state deteriorated further after his father’s death in a workplace accident. She began bringing other lost souls into their home — drifters, addicts, runaways — and together they formed the seed of what would become The Maw That Opens. Ryouji, barely a teenager, was elevated to “First Mouth” and expected to demonstrate the teachings on living subjects. The rituals grew bloodier and more elaborate. He learned to love the moment a body opened under his teeth, the way flesh confessed its secrets when properly carved. By sixteen he had fully internalized his mother’s gospel as his own truth: beauty was hidden, purity required consumption, and the world was a congregation waiting to be devoured. By eighteen he had cannibalized his own mother, and the first sparks of The Maw That Opens disbanded due to internal conflict.
Afterwards Ryouji remained a self-proclaimed prophet. He steadily rebuilt The Maw That Opens, using former contacts in the Black Markets to extend his reach and participating in a wide human trafficking network to ‘save’ potential converts. Under his guidance followers practiced extreme body modification, ritual bloodletting, and “oral devotion” — carving symbols into their flesh and fasting until their bodies became living temples of hunger. Ryouji taught that true purity could only be achieved through consumption: to be chosen by the divine was to be devoured, and the most beautiful souls were the ones that tasted sweetest when finally opened. The cult grew in secrecy until authorities raided the commune after a string of disappearances, What they found was a nightmare of malnourished bodies, ritual mutilations, and missing persons .Ryouji offered no resistance. He smiled and told the officers they had beautiful jaws, and later recited his own scripture in open court.
Institutionalization followed. Psychiatrists labeled him unstable but potentially treatable. That assessment ended the day he calmly removed and consumed a doctor’s face during a routine session. The attack was so precise and ritualistic that the body was barely identifiable. From that moment his status changed from patient to condemned. Japan had not carried out a quirk-related death sentence in over a decade; Ryouji became the exception that proved the rule. Years passed in solitary confinement under constant sedation and reinforced muzzles. Then, in a moment of bureaucratic oversight and opportunistic outside intervention, he escaped. The breakout was not driven by ideology or revenge, it was driven by hunger. The man who once preached sacred consumption had become consumption itself.
What remained of the prophet after escape was a hollowed-out vessel running on ritual and reflex. The League found him useful precisely because he had no greater agenda, only the need to carve beauty from flesh and the eerie calm that came afterward. They supplied him with Trigger to amplify the quirk and restraints to keep him from turning on his own side. In return he became their living weapon, deployed when overwhelming, grotesque force was required. Fragments of the old gospel still slip out in his muttering: quiet sermons about mouths as sacred gateways and flesh as confession. He no longer leads a cult, but in his mind the world itself has become the congregation, and every battlefield is simply another sermon delivered in blood.
PERSONALITY:
Obsessive, silent, and profoundly deranged. Moonfish moves through the world like a sermon given physical form; ritualistic, patterned, and eerily focused even when his mind appears fractured. His speech is fragmented, repetitive, and delivered in soft, self-directed monologues that function as both prayer and leash. Beneath the apparent psychosis lies a man who has turned cannibalistic compulsion into something almost sacred.
Public Traits:
Only deployed for combat when heavily dosed on Trigger, at which point he becomes a barely contained force of nature.
Speaks in sermon-like monologues or short, self-directed bursts of commentary that sound half-prayer, half-instruction.
Fixates intensely on “pretty flesh,” openly admiring exposed skin, veins, or wounds with disturbing reverence.
Lacks any reliable impulse control around injured or bare skin, treating it as both canvas and communion.
Does not appear to distinguish between friend and foe once the Trigger fully takes hold.
Issues warnings not out of kindness but as ritualistic reminders to maintain his own fragile focus.
Private Traits:
Battles near-constant intrusive compulsions through elaborate internal dialogue and whispered self-commands.
Mildly dissociative when not actively engaged in combat or ritual, often appearing eerily calm and detached
Uses “work” for the League as his primary psychological anchor to suppress deeper urges
Retains no ideological loyalty to the League or any cause; his allegiance is purely transactional and hunger-driven
Shows clear signs of hyperfocus and objectification, treating people as collections of beautiful parts rather than whole beings.
Remains a preacher in his own mind at all times, quietly attempting to indoctrinate anyone who holds his interest with fragments of his old gospel.
Believes beautiful creatures are divine gifts that must be properly indulged and opened; this belief makes him horrifyingly possessive.
Completely ignores social norms and personal boundaries the moment someone becomes “interesting” enough to him
When not drugged he can hold surprisingly coherent conversations and even negotiate, though violence remains an ever-present possibility if denied what he desires
Emotional Range:
Positive emotions surface as soft, reverent murmurs and almost blissful smiles when he encounters what he considers perfect flesh
Satisfaction appears as a slow, contented sigh after a successful “sermon” or carving
Frustration or denial manifests as rapid, whispered self-reprimands and twitching jaw movements.
Hunger — both literal and aesthetic — shows in the way his eyes fixate and his teeth unconsciously extend.
Periods of lucidity bring a chilling calm and articulate, almost gentle tone that feels more disturbing than his madness
Anger is cold and ritualistic, expressed through precise, sermon-accompanied violence rather than outbursts
Exhaustion after heavy Trigger use leaves him hollow-eyed and muttering fragments of doctrine to himself for hours.
Ideology: Moonfish possesses no conventional ideology, no slogans, no political agenda. What remains is a singular, unshakable truth: beauty exists beneath the skin, and the world keeps itself too clothed to see it. His obsession with flesh is not mere hunger, it is revelation. Where others see violence he sees design. Where others fear death he studies its architecture. His actions are not rebellion but ritual, a continuous act of exposure. He does not speak of changing society because society long ago stopped speaking to him. Yet if given freedom and a blade he will continue carving his private gospel into the world, one exquisite wound at a time. In his mind every cut is confession, every taste is communion, and the only honest language left is the one written in blood.
Core Contradiction: Moonfish is a killer who speaks in prayers. He mutilates and consumes flesh while whispering reverence, sees divine beauty in bodies yet reduces them to meat. He is driven by compulsion rather than cruelty but cannot tell the difference anymore. His violence is ritual, his obsession aesthetic, and in every wound he insists there is meaning, even as the ritual itself devours whatever humanity he once possessed.
Psychological Framework: Ryouji’s mind operates on a closed loop of obsession and dissociation. He does not perceive people as individuals but as anatomical compositions; living sculptures of potential beauty waiting to be revealed. His fixation is not sadistic in the conventional sense; it is compulsive and almost reverent. Speech is his primary leash: the endless muttering, the self-directed sermons, the ritual phrases that keep the hunger at bay. When the leash slips he becomes pure reflex — stalking, fixating, opening. The patterns are always the same: observation, monologue, release, consumption, quiet satisfaction.
Whether the root was trauma, neurological damage, or the slow erosion of years spent believing his own doctrine, it no longer matters. What matters is the result. He anchors himself through ritual because without it there is only the mouth and the need to fill it. The League provides the Trigger, the restraints, and the targets; in return he gives them a weapon that asks no questions and feels no remorse. In his own fractured logic he is still a prophet, only now his congregation is the battlefield and his scripture is written in red.

No-Fly Zone: Vanilla or conventionally “romantic” sex with no blood, carving, or ritual elements. Standard oral performed on him (he finds it boring and impersonal). Any form of tender aftercare, cuddling, kissing, or emotional closeness afterward that isn’t prompted by him first. Missionary or face-to-face positions with him on bottom that feel too intimate and human. Partners who beg him to stop (he just kills them and fucks their dead body). Being treated like something fragile that needs to be gentled or healed. Any scenario where he is expected to be the submissive or “prey.” Safe-word systems. Anything to do with animals
ok so moonfish is like one of my favorite bnha characters and I'm genuinely so surprised someone else has brainrot for him. can u tell me some thought you have on him...... like what do you think hes like?
I've always had a theory that his quirk makes him only capable of eating humans. that he's been starved so much and for so long that he's gone insane over flesh and hunger. that fits really well with the themes of shiggys squad. what do you think is the reason for his insanity snd cannibalism?
HELLO HELLO i've been crazy busy, but every so often i open tumblr and stare gleefully at this ask. and now i can finally answer it!
From what I remember of MHA canon, Moonfish had made a pretty big name for himself in the villain world up to and beyond his first imprisonment. We can assume he possesses some degree of survival skill/intellectual capability, to the point where he's become so serious of a threat that death row is warranted. Even during Moonfish's intro at the training camp raid Bakugo and Todoroki comment on his use of terrain and how "he's clearly been in a lot of battles".
An aside: Ultra Archive initially rates Moonfish's intelligence as a 3/5 while Ultra Analysis later gives him a 1/5 :((( they revoked his braincells...
He probably CAN eat other things aside from people; they had to keep him alive in Tartarus for a while, and feeding the guy on death row Human Meat wouldn't be very ethical (not that the heroes have outstanding moral judgement anyway). From what we've seen of his body he looks to be in decent shape so they're not starving him either.
It's true that most of the LoV have quirks that influence their personalities/behavior (ex: Toga, Twice, possibly Muscular to an extent?), so Moonfish is likely in a similar situation. I'm not going to speculate on the details of his mental illness--my interpretation of him is largely based on my own experiences. Maybe the hunger is episodic, or maybe it wasn't as bad a few years ago or when he was younger and is now just spiraling. Maybe it's a stress-eating kind of thing. I think he never had access to the necessary resources/professional help/therapy/idk to help him navigate his quirk, and now it's "too late" and he's "beyond saving".
I suppose he's so loyal to the LoV simply because they respect him, more or less, as a person and a teammate. He's fixated with "doing his job" because that job lets him belong somewhere.
This is definitely outside the scope of BNHA main series but I like thinking about a little future for him, where he sort of drops off the radar and goes somewhere quiet and just, learns to live with himself.
I have loads more headcanons; if you're curious, just ask! Thank you for giving me an opportunity to wax poetic about my guy lol
Part 3 - Chapter 26 - Training Camp: Blood, Sweat, And Tears
Blank Canvas Part 3

And now for part 2 of this update! :D Again because I felt like it. Izuku is running around trying to save everyone like he does. Let's get into more of the training camp attack!
Linktree to all the things!
End notes for the chapter are under the line.
Already Izuku and Spinner are butting heads. That sword of his is ridiculous. Let's explode it. I do find it hilarious that Horikoshi had Izuku break it in canon because it was too time-consuming to draw. They're not wrong just by the look of it. So bye bye weird knife sword.
More on Katsuki's mindset in this. He's worried. Of course he's worried. Katsuki has always been worried about Izuku and doesn't want him to die. In BC that is his whole motivation for everything that he's done to Izuku. And I just couldn't keep him from being left out of the chaos. More on that later. ;)
Aizawa's got his work cut out for him. Not only is Izuku running around but now he has to worry about Katsuki as well. On top of that Hitoshi is somewhere out there. Three main problem children along with the rest of the two classes. He's going to need a barrel of coffee and the world's longest nap after this. But the night isn't over yet.
Izuku finally got to use some first aid knowledge! :D Finally found a time for that to shine a little.
Poor Tokoyami and Dark Shadow. He didn't mean to lose control and Dark Shadow is one powerful badass. And don't worry, birdie boy, Shouji is still your bestie.
Ok. Hitoshi's moment. I had so much fun with that. Izuku has a hero's heart and mind, but it really does blind him to his own safety. Hitoshi can't lose his brother after everything they've been through. Perhaps Shouto could have been the one to plead but I didn't really see him being so emotional about it. Hitoshi was the better fit.
Alrighty! That's all for this update. I hope you enjoyed the two chapters! Still got more of the attack to come. Thrills! Chills! Spills! It's going to be fun in the angstiest way possible. ;) Until then, be good and well, dear readers! Ta ta for now.
I did some thinking and looked at how much we’ve actually seen of his face (which is like a mouth and one eye??) and this is what I could come up with. I just imagine him never entirely closing his mouth... That’s just how he is.
Also I know you didn’t ask for Moonfish in a cute straight jacket leotard but that’s what I appearently wanted to draw him in so...
