About Born from Blood

The Born from Blood server is a collaborative effort organized for the sake of networking and creating roleplaying opportunities for Ala Mhigan roleplayers across the Crystal datacenter. Our server is open and welcome to all players of Ala Mhigan affiliation or descent.

It began as a small Discord server made in order to facilitate cooperative brainstorming and planning for what would become our recurrent Ala Mhigan Market Night on the Balmung server, and has since grown by leaps and bounds to enable easier networking, event planning, and roleplay.

At the heart of our vision for the Discord server is a sense of community and cooperation. While we understand that not everyone will get along all the time, we endeavor to resolve any conflicts with the fairness and respect that we believe each and every one of our members deserves.

The peace, day and night

Her gaze is intense, to hold and not look away is to earn respect. She is a woman of power and she knows it. There is wisdom in her eyes, she knows to be humble, knows that for all her strength there is weakness. There is the aftermath of unspeakable horror hidden within, resilience and survival in her every step. She holds herself tall, proud, she knows she has walked through hell, called the devil out by name and emerged from ash. Her spirit soars, she has fought countless battles, she bears the scars like a badge of honor.  These things could not kill her. They taught her to be stronger. Better. Faster.  Her gaze is intense, enigmatic. Few can know what lies beneath. Her spirit soars. Few know what lifts beneath her wings.

Anamnesis

Papa, I am sorry it’s been a while since Percival and I laid the dagger here. We got married, he and I...it’s been nearly an entire cycle since the day we stood before the Twelve and vowed ourselves to one another for the rest of our lives. I know I visit Mama more than I do you...but I always seem to forget I can honor the three of you here...and I have visited the Sagolii far more than I have the Errant Sword. 

But this year...this day marks what would have been an important birthday for you. By my measuring anyroad. I have been trying very hard these past several cycles, to live a life that would make you proud. There are rumors of working with the Empire for reasons that logic says are prudent and wise...but my heart still cries for retribution. My cycles are of a number that mean I have lived longer without you than I did with you. 

Each of those cycles is a chasm in my heart, a wedge between then and now, and though by now memory should have dulled, it has not. The pain is not less. It is different. A twinge of sorrow that you could not meet the man who took a chance on your surly, volatile daughter. An ache of absence on the day I wed, that you could not see all the ways he has helped me find myself once again. He speaks, and I believe. He is a great man, a fighter without equal. I might be biased. But that is how he is in my eyes. 

But there are things you did not live to see. You did not see the way Atla and Olaf horribly abused your niece. You did not see when Atla died and Eorla was brought within an ilm of death at the hands of her own father. I witnessed what horrific parents the Brynns were, and it made me miss you, Mama, and Arik even more. 

I have tried to eradicate the memories of the first eleven summers of my life. By Rhalgr, I’ve tried. And I cannot. I accept that while there is a bridge over that chasm, there are days where someone has cut the ropes. And those days...like today, I miss you all so much it hurts to breathe. I love you.
