Classical music, long ball gowns and freshly ironed suits— Yeongi’s very own Daengom, a stunning venue for only the richest of weddings and social events, is full to the brim with guests. Invite-only and the event of the year, shopping tycoon Lee Yeonseok’s winter ball has started only a mere hour ago. Despite the weather, much of the tables and dance ( ballroom only, please! ) areas are outside, under a faux sky of twinkling lights. Untouched until dinner, each table is dressed in a crisp white cloth, bouquets upon bouquets of beautiful white and cream flowers and if one didn’t know of the Winter Wonderland theme, it’d be easy to mistake the scene for a late night wedding reception. The only difference is the money. 

Inside where his guests currently mingle, the walls are covered with loaned paintings from the art gallery within the Museum of Myeongcho, as well as some of Lee’s private collection. Guards stand in each corridor, in the corner of each room. But what lurks doesn’t mingle amongst the guests— not in numbers, anyway. 

TW DEATH, BOMBING

As the night gets under way, champagne sipped gingerly from tall glasses, Hydrus lingers below ground, coordinating via a sophisticated, impenetrable communication system, in-ears invisible to anyone not directly looking for them. They’re in position, waiting for the clock to strike nine. Lee takes the ‘stage’ just before the hour, clinking his spoon gently against his glass to gather the attention of his star studded guests. Celebrities from the mainland, local heroes, CEOs, even known gang members— anyone who’s anyone on Myeongcho is stood together in a crowd before him. Lee smiles at all the people he will sometime soon use for his own benefit and begins his speech. 

“Thank you all for coming tonight.” He draws in a deep breath. “Welcome to my annual Winter Ball, which the Daengom is kindly hosting for us tonight.” His audience claps quietly. “Thank you, thank you. Now, I’m sure you all know this has been a long, difficult year for our dear island. Riots, public executions, growing crime rates across the board, attacks to our very own...” He offers a sympathetic smile to MPD Lieutenant Yoo Sihyun who dips his head in return. “In the coming year, we will work together to—” As he raises his glass to propose a toast with his magnificent act of selflessness, the lights cut out. Plunged into the darkness, feet rushing across the floor— some to protect Lee, some in an attempt to restore power, some knowing what is coming next— no one feels the rumble of the floor until it’s too late. 

First, the exits fill with rubble. Then, the ceiling cracks. Smoke fills the room. It’s a bomb! They shout. No! It’s more! Two, three, four, maybe. It’s hard to tell amongst the screams of pain, agony, fear. Will you make it out alive? 

WELCOME TO MI’S NEWEST EVENT, MI:BLACKOUT !

This post marks the beginning of our newest event — we hope you’re as excited as we are! 

IC, Lee’s Annual Winter Ball begins at 8 PM on Saturday, December 21st, 2019. The power cuts out just before 9 PM, and a minute or so later, the first bomb of five goes off below the venue. Due to the power cut, Hydrus members coordinating the attack under the event could not communicate and the bomb was set off with Hydrus members still above ground and in the tunnels. 

OOC, this event lasts until midnight at the end of Saturday, January 18th, 2020.

HYDRUS, consider this a mission at the very least derailed. Your own members are caught in the crossfire and whilst the serpents don’t usually concern themselves over friendly fire, this complication runs much deeper than a few lost teammates. Your attempt to kill the shopping tycoon and various other high profile names in a continued effort to rebuild your reputation has been turned on its head. Your targets are trapped as you wanted, but can you finish the job? 

LYNX, congratulations on unknowingly making life that little bit harder for Hydrus. You’ve successfully cut out all communications and power across the island — at least for a little while. Unlike Hydrus, however, your targets aren’t living. How much easier is it to steal something with no security alarms? In teams, members of Lynx will advance on various goldmines for valuables — the temporarily closed Museum of Myeongcho, Sunrise Star Hotel, the MPD’s various armouries, confidential files in Myeongcho’s largest organisations. Take what you can, but don’t forget to stay alive. Security officers don’t go home just because the power is out! If you’re on the inside, however… Bad luck on missing out on all the fun! Or are you? 

Those on the inside from COLUMBA, PHOENIX and CORVUS, what’s more important: your loyalty or your life? Do you save your fellow members? Or all citizens to keep your allegiance hidden? Do you try to find a way out and leave everyone behind? Can you get to the bottom of this? Or do you take advantage of this opportunity? There’s so much wealth in this room, after all…

MPD, how fast can you really react to something you don’t know about? No calls can come in or out, you’re scrambling to find the source of the island-wide blackout… Unless you’re at the event, it’s likely your attention is elsewhere. Those guests will be fine by themselves, anyway… Right?

To summarise, Lynx and Hydrus have unknowingly planned separate attacks on the same night. Lynx just slightly beating out Hydrus has derailed the latter’s bombing of shopping business tycoon Lee Yeonseok’s Annual Winter Ball, leaving many wealthy names, as well as many of our beloved muses, trapped inside fighting for their lives. The blackout took out all power across the island, including phone reception towers and internet access, meaning there’ll be no way to contact one another for at least twenty minutes whilst teams work to restore power to, at the very least, phone towers. After forty minutes, power will come back on. The Daengom will remain in darkness thanks to the destruction caused by the bombs but mobile phones will regain signal when phone towers are restored regardless. 

The above descriptions for each gang are just guidelines! Whether or not your muse is at the Winter Ball or working on the outside in some way is completely up to you! 

Muses may have gained access to the Winter Ball through invite, being someone’s plus one, hacking the guest list, etc. If you can’t think of a realistic reason for your muse to be present but would like one, feel free to message us!

You, SONG SEOAH, have been assisting with first aiders such as LEE HYUNWOO since the explosions stopped. Paramedics are on their way, but for many present, that may be too late. Your bravery and intuition hasn’t gone unnoticed by others and following the release of all those trapped inside, you’re recruited for Columba by KIM TAEHYUNG for your tenacity. They won’t be the only ones watching, though, local hero. NOTE: This is an opportunity to get your muse recruited by Columba and requires no further point cost or reward solo to change your muse’s affiliation. 

Hydrus member Muse D had been mingling amongst the guests listening to Lee’s speech when the power went out. Alarmed, they’d tried desperately to get in touch with other members but with no signal and no power, it’s impossible. You connect eyes with Muse E ( Hydrus ) across the crowd and gravitate to one another for safety. After all, you were only supposed to keep an eye out and give the signal before making your escape. You weren’t supposed to get caught in the crossfire. 

JEON JEONGGUK is fascinated by this power outage and the moment you regain signal, you begin to delve into finding the source. Along the way, you find SON HYEJOO a fellow hacker who may or may not be part of the team that took the island down… 

Muse H ( Lynx ) is one of the coordinators or seniors on the attack against the Museum of Myeongcho. Muse I ( Lynx ) is one of the most inexperienced on the job. Eager to impress as they may be, this is a rather large first step. Can you work together to get the job done? 

KIM MINJI and PARK SUNGKI are trapped inside the Daengom with no power, no first aid kits and PARK SUNGKI unable to walk on their injured ankle. They won’t die from the injury, of course, but it’s not like they can get out by themselves before the rest of the building collapses. Will KIM MINJI help them, or does their loyalty not extend to outside of their gang? 

Muse L is out in the streets when everything descends into darkness. Luckily, a reporter is there to ask them a hundred questions! Buckle in, Muse L, because you’re not going anywhere until they get all the answers they’re looking for. NOTE: This prompt is in the format of a submit from the main and will likely take a couple days to get to you due to the holiday season.

Jongin had a glass of champagne resting in his hand, untouched by his lips as he was in mission. Feeling quite fancy in a black suit, he was naturally portraying his character in the middle of many wealthy people. Well, not exactly in the middle. After doing some greetings and small talk around the venue, he took a spot near the wall, being able to observe the guests and also the host of the ball. The man held back a sigh. "If I had nothing else to do tonight, not even the food would make me want to stay here." He mumbled, careful as to not let anyone notice he was basically talking to himself. But rather, talking to his counterpart at the other side of his tiny in-ear. It was boring. For the sake of his job there, he was paying attention to his surroundings and whatever people would be chatting about, ready for any useful information.

"Where are you? Having fun?" A slight grin wanted to form in his face, moving his eyes softly to maybe locate Seulgi, although he was hoping not to see her - much better to be spread inside that place. They had been assigned to do some tasks together before, and while Kim enjoyed working alone, he couldn't deny that having her as a partner had its benefits. Aside from sharing the burden and responsibility of a mission, it was fun at the very least that she didn't seem obsessed or overly serious on their job when things were under control. Of course he only thought of it as a positive thing because, more than that, she was competent on her role.

All the smiles and head bows Jongin received were returned, and he considered for a moment that if he wasn't there to spy on other people, maybe he could have his fun. In fact they weren't given a lot of information about the ball - they were the ones to collect them. It wasn't just a ball. Something was going to happen and they could contribute to Phoenix's awareness of other gangs' objectives, maybe some faces that didn't mean to be known. The suspicion was Hydrus' envolvement on whatever they had to find out.

if there was one thing grim hated, then it was a treacherous snake like drifter. all these men who had given their lives, shed blood for their gang, their family, just in vain because of one single man. when lynx broadcasted, grim had been out, out as woo dohwan, on his way to a business meeting. he had been relaxed, there was nothing special about a meeting outside of his office, it was a routine task to fulfill, and the world was like before, until the monitor in his car that showed a upcoming news show, suddenly changed picture. his eyes were drawn to it, when the colours of the screen fade and were dipped into a shining gold before a silhouette of a lynx appeared from the background.

dohwan frowned his eyesbrows, signalling his driver to stop the car for a moment, in order for him to see the full message of one of the hostile gangs. he leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest as the voice started to speak. what was this whole ruckus about? silence filled the car, silence filled the space outside, when the words fell. the male clenched his fist so hard that his skin turned white. his whole body shoke in rage, he was fuming in anger. "drifter, that bastard!" his betrayal was unforgiveable. he had to pay for it. death wasn't enough to make up for his sins.

the heart in his chest was in an uproar and dohwan punched the leatherseat of his car. with a jolt he slammed open the door and snarled at the driver to get lost. without another word he hurled him out of the driver's seat to get behind the steering wheel himself. through a few touches on the display of the front, the executive vice president called his secretary to postpone the appointment due to a emergency. not waiting on his secretary's reply, he ended the call and kicked the gas pedal. he needed conformation on this shit.

even if lynx were to lie to them, it would tear crater to their rows of men, the trust of members would be destroyed at once. this meant war.

SUMMER’S HERE !

It’s natural that the moment the sun starts to make an extended appearance over the city, the word summer is the only whispered among citizens. Every year, a whole host of events are organised through the warmer months to keep kids and adults alike busy and off the streets; dressing as a superhero, late night dinners in museums — there’s something for everyone. This year is no different! 

“I won’t be at the forefront of these celebrations, but I will be allocating increased police presence to larger events, such as the upcoming music festival.” She teases with a bright grin, eyes sparkling through the press camera. “Please enjoy your summer with no fear. The SPD are dedicated to protecting our citizens and we will stop at nothing to ensure that crime rates begin to fall from this constant rate we have been stuck at for so long. Thank you for your time.”

We’re still discussing how best to reward you all and your muses for your continued dedication and love for MI, but rest assured that anything you do now will be honoured when we’re ready to implement new features to give MI a refresher! “Over to you, Minho.”

Minho is a familiar face by now. His tense figure stands before Seoul Forest in Seongdong-gu, sighing painfully as the crew gives him his signal. 

“Thank you, Jihyo. Less than an hour ago, two bodies were discovered in Seoul Forest, just two days after a first pair were found beside Han River.” His lips are pressed into a thin line as clips begin to show of SPD officers pushing back reporters and curious passers by from the scene. “Tonight’s events were called into the SPD anonymously from a public phone at around 9:05 PM, the victims believed to have been on an early Valentine’s date. Authorities are still in the process of contacting families of tonight’s victims. However, details of the first couple and their murders have been released by their families and the SPD.” 

There’s a short pause before pictures of the happy couple pop up on screen, the names ‘Shin Nahee’ and ‘Lee Kwangmin’ beside each smiling face. “Shin Nahee, a 32-year old teacher, and Lee Kwangmin, a 35-year old dentist, had been dating for three years and frequently walked a route along Han River late at night to de-stress. The couple were, as described in an interview with 54-year old Lee Sanghoon, who discovered the couple and contacted police, huddled together on a bench, seemingly positioned postmortem.” 

Footage then returns to focus on the night’s events, a closed sign on one of Seoul Forest’s many building doors as Minho continues. “The SPD have released a written statement following these two events. Chief Choi Jiwoo wishes to reassure citizens that these killings are ‘of utmost importance’ to the SPD, and their best detectives are ‘working tirelessly to control the threat’. Shortly, she addresses the similarities to last year’s Valentine Killer, stating that she does not believe the two are connected in any way beside having drawn inspiration.” Minho doesn’t appear convinced, but holds his tongue. “We spoke briefly to the parents of one of the first victims of last year, Goo Minsoo, for their thoughts.”

A sharp cut presents the older couple stood also in Seoul Forest, with a more pleasant, green background to contrast the yellow tape shown behind Minho before. The mother breathes in audibly. “It’s horrifying that anyone would want to recreate the traumatising events of last year. It’s been horrible living without Minsoo this past year, and to think that 9 other families lost their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters— that was painful enough. Now the number is growing. We hope the SPD can catch this disgusting human soon.” Her husband nods sadly by her side. “In the months following Minsoo’s passing, we set up a foundation, raising money to support other parents who have lost sons and daughters to Seoul’s shockingly high crime rate. If you’d like to donate to help those all over the city, including the parents of the four victims televised tonight, please visit our website. Thank you.” A link appears at the bottom of the screen as Minho reappears. 

“Our hearts go out to all those affected by these recent events. The SPD would like anyone who feels they may know anything about either murders to get in touch immediately, and for citizens to stay inside as much as possible. Thank you. Back to you, Jihyo.”

Cross Jurisdictions

It’s amazing what can be caught on film. From criminals caught on CCTV emptying banks and jewellers, to drug deals busted by brave teens and their addictions to their phones, a strategically placed camera can blow a case wide open if used wisely, and with such advanced technology available now at the tip of our fingers, more and more is being immortalised in film every second. 

Still, photography itself as an art is highly respected. The availability of technology doesn’t accommodate for raw talent and passion, and it’s for this reason that a dark mobile phone image of a drug dealer handing over a parcel in exchange for a thick wad of cash is bought by the SPD for a couple hundred thousand won, yet a beautifully crafted photograph provoking the deepest of emotions can go for millions— sometimes more. Hell, even reporters will pay a hefty sum for sole access to photographic evidence of anything from celebrity love affairs to violent crimes such as the ongoing investigation sweeping the city. 

It all begs the question, really, when you discover a covered figure in the background of an image you had taken recently, an old newspaper headlined by the killings of the year before clutched between their fingers, what do you do with it? 

Life in the big city with a stable, legal job can be a monotonous drag. Even with flexible working hours, the general basic routine is still there. And routine, no matter how variable, is still routine. Wake, Eat, Play, Work, Eat, Sleep. Rinse and repeat.

Sometimes Doyoung wonders if he should pursued a more exciting career path. Like perhaps the army or police force. Or maybe a mortician. But he doubts he would’ve enjoyed either paths. The former is too rigid in structure (and not to mention, his conflicting morals) while he probably wasn’t smart enough to pursue a career in the latter industry.

Regardless of whatever path he might’ve pursued though, he reckons he would’ve ended up the same. Because excitement and adventure can only ever be sought after, and never obtained. Do something enough, and it becomes ordinary. Routine.

Watchman-work, too, would’ve gotten stale eventually if it weren’t for the continuous influx of objectives, challenges and secrets his little hobby offered. And this little hobby of his, or really just life in general, had a way of throwing him curve balls when he least expects it. Or sometimes, when he least desires it.

For example? Right now, the photograph of a somewhat aged male entering an ‘questionable’ establishment arm in arm with a dolled up young woman.

It’s nothing particularly exciting really, but evidence of affairs and the like on executives and whatnot are always useful tools when it comes to bargaining favours or payments when the situation calls for it. He’d planed to do what he always did with photographs such as those – clean, edit, tag, file.

That dark figure of an individual in the background? He was going to edit him out, because blackmail material or not, photography was art. And he didn’t need some random passerby detracting from his subject matter.

At least, that was what he was planning.

That was before he spied the newspaper article said mystery individual was clutching onto. The paper itself isn’t of much note, but the headline and date of issue certainly was. Everyone who had half a brain has heard of, and knew of the copy cat Valentine Killings going on as of late. And the fact that this man here, was holding onto a paper – an old, old paper – headlining last year’s killings was very suspicious indeed.

THIS was fucking juicy stuff; THIS was the kind of thing the Watchman chased after.

Or what he would chase after, if he had nothing else better to do. Because in the end, Watchman-ing was a hobby, albeit an extreme one. And he had other hobbies too – like video gaming. And what can he say? He’s kind of busy since it’s Seollal and all, with all the Lunar New Year festivities and events the games are churning out.

He has lootboxes to grind, online currency to farm and community challenges to complete before the season’s over. And whether one might believe it or not, he’s torn between chasing after that exclusive in-game skin, and diving into the secrets and intrigue behind what seems like a budding series of serial murders.

Tapping a fingernail on his mouse, he ponders a thought with furrowed eyebrows before deciding to further blow up the photograph. This time, with the mystery figure being the focal point. It easy enough – having done countless of times – for him to de-noise and sharpen the photograph, lightening the shadows where needed to get him a decent close up of said individual in almost no time at all.

Leaning back, he lolls his head and relishing in the crackling sounds that the motion makes, sighing as he feels the muscles around his neck loosen up.

“What do you think Felix?”

He cocks his head to the side, directing the question to the feline lazing by his desktop.

“I shouldn’t bother right? It’s my holiday. And Feng Min’s skin is waiting for me,” he muses to himself. Eyes wandering over to this other (gaming) monitor which had a streamer’s steam open. “The event is waiting for me…”

Next to Felix, his phone buzzes, signalling the arrival of a new message from the ‘KIM CLAN🤘🤘🤘’ – titled by his younger sister, obviously; these damned youngins – group chat.

Somebody(s) was spamming all the photos from their family reunion.

God, that had been an awkward affair.

How does one act around family they’re partially estranged from? They’re estranged enough that meet-ups feel awkward, but not estranged enough that snubbing them wouldn’t feel awkward. He has no desire to embarrass his family in front of the rest of their relatives. Their issues can stay theirs. And private.

However, it’s one thing pretending things are okay in front of just your parents, your immediate family. But it’s a whole other ball game pretending in front of extended family too. It’s tiring.

He blames his brother.

Rolling his eyes, he scrolls through the spam of photographs, mildly annoyed by the lack of symmetry in some of the snapshots. He stops at one – the family photo where everyone looks swell, and where Doyoung looks like he’s dead on the inside. There’s one extra individual in this year’s photo.

Hyung-nim had decided it had been high time he introduced his 'secret’ girlfriend to the family. Doyoung had already found out a long time ago (though not because he had been told), but it was news to the rest of the family. He had no idea why they were so surprised though. Kim Dohwan had everything there was to be had in an attractive male specimen. It was inevitable he’d have found a match in his league.

And he’d definitely found a partner of his league. A pretty woman. Smart too, he’d reckon just going off her master’s degree. And Doyoung had yet to find any dirt on her so, she’s nice enough it seems.

He thinks that Dohwan is thinking of marriage; He’s too much of a gentlemen. And also much too easy to read. Marriage must be on the table, or at least at the back of his mind, if he’d decided to introduce her to the family.

God, he hates that he knows him so well.

But he still can’t help but wonder if he’d be invited to the wedding, if there were one. It’s an errant thought, but he also wonders if his brother and his girlfriend would be the Valentine copycat’s ’type’.

“As if,” he scoffs, and yet, he still pulls up a window to look up the details.

“They fit his type… age wise, at least. Twenties? What do you think Felix?” He directs the rhetorical question towards his cat, absent-mindedly scratching its head while his eyes were still glued to the screen.

“Copycat only seems to be following the whole 'couples’ shtick. His first ones were in their thirties.”

But you never know.

He doesn’t like not knowing.

Drumming his fingers on his mobile phone, he ponders a thought. As he arrives upon a decision, he straightens up, pulling out a new window for the image. Sharpened and zoomed in on the mysterious individual.

He crops out the newspaper from the final image.

Digging through his drawer, he pulls out one of the many burn phones stacked haphazardly in the container and dials a number.

“Sweet Nightingale, mind doing me a favour?” He practically purrs into the receiver, his voice taking on that fiendish tone typical to that of his Watchman persona. “I need some help in looking into a person. I’ll send you the photo. Don’t worry, I’ll pay you back. Oh! And happy new year ~”

He doesn’t bother waiting for a response. Cutting the call as soon as he’s done. He knows the message has been delivered, and they both know that it wasn’t so much of a request as it was a demand. Nightingale also knows, that it’s always better to never ask questions.

It’s not as bad as he makes it sound. A mutually beneficial relationship, he’d say.

He sends over the photo.

The Watchman is returning early from his holiday, it seems.

There’s no point going to the SPD. From his experience, the law was always one step behind regardless because of their useless red tape and what not. With their luck, they’d just screw over what little tips that were handed over. And he wasn’t going to the gangs with what amounted to scraps. At least, not yet. He, as the annoying know-it-all, had a reputation to keep.

Besides, where was the fun in that?

His gaze falls on the family photograph still open in his mobile phone’s gallery.

“Don’t say I’ve never done anything for you, shithead.”

“We need more man-power.” 

Perhaps it’s a little reckless for Chief Choi Jiwoo to be sending most of the Yongsan precinct out to Seoul Forest, rookie officers and all, to gather evidence. After all, an empty headquarters is a vulnerable one, even if she remains tucked inside her office with visuals on every entrance — one woman against the four gangs of Seoul and all those unaligned isn’t a particularly fair fight. 

But, the Chief’s word is the Chief’s word, and for many, this is the first time they’ve been out on the field for a long time, or ever, so the opportunity, as morbid as it sounds, is exciting. 

A senior officer informs you of your placement along the tape at the crime scene, keeping hysteric civilians, protesters and, of course, pesky reporters from getting an eyeful of the horrors that lie ahead. For the most part, it’s an easy placement. As keen as they are to get the latest scoop, they seem more interested in battling one another to the front than pushing past — at least until one brave cameraman sneaks under and makes a break for it. You’re the closest officer to him, and Chief Choi had been very firm about keeping the investigation a secret… You better start running, huh?

Myungsoo wasn’t a rookie cop so he had  no idea why he was here, but since there needed to be control and maintenance of the crowd along the police tape, he would help out. He was part of the Yongsan team and as much as he claimed to hate going out into the field, he craved the whole field experience. He would have rather been with the techs and the others on the scene, but he was given a job by Chief Choi herself and he was going to do it. 

He was no rookie, but he was lazy and unambitious enough to work hard and aim higher. 

“Everyone keep calm!” he exclaimed, trying to calm the crowd in front of the police tape, who made an attempt to get past him. Myungsoo was almost good enough to keep control of his section with ease. Sobbing people and nosy reporters had his hands full. He hoped than not one would be dumb enough to go under his nose. He was strong but he wasn’t a fast runner. 

And of course, as his luck often sucked as much, a cameraman with a bulky camera snuck past the tape, amidst the chaos at his section. Myungsoo glanced over at another officer close by and motioned for the other keep control, as Myungsoo took off running after the guy. He was a photographer as well, so he had an inkling as to what a good picture can do for a story, but this was not the time nor place for any of this bullshit. 

“HEY! STOP!” he exclaimed, chasing the cameraman. The camera man was fast, but Myungsoo was faster using his physical prowess to tackle him to the ground. “I told you to stop, didn’t I?” he asked. 

The cameraman groaned. “I think you broke something.” Myungsoo settled on top of the other male and reached for the camera. “Irrelevant. You are interfering with an official police investigation and I have to conficatse your cmaera.” he said, snatching the camera and starting to flip through the picture. “Can youat least get of?”

“Negative. I can’t be sure that you shall run. So you better get comfy. because I’m not moving at all.” he stated. Myungsoo flipped through the camera, deleting everything that pertained to the crime scene. The camera man stared at him. “You’re ruining my job.” he said, wincing in pain. Myungsoo glared at him. “Your phone as well.” he said. Myungsoo was going to forcibly confiscate all the footage.

SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES...

As the clock strikes midnight at the start of October 1st, a peculiar darkness washes over our quiet island. Hidden in every alleyway, ghosts and ghouls are out to play. Pumpkins and bats, broomsticks and witches hats... Are you ready for the fright of your life? 

Branded as Myeongcho’s very first ‘Spooktober’, large home-grown businesses have grouped together to organise a full month of ongoing events for all the black cats that have patiently waited for this fearful time of year. Costumes parties on Shell Beach, ghoulish meals fit only for the bravest of eaters at Aesop’s Tables, scavenger hunts around Pebble Park that force a chill down your spine — and not from the falling temperature — there’s a little something for everyone almost every night of the month, but come October 31st, Myeongcho University will hold the main event, a spooktacular Haunted House. 

Kicking off at 7PM sharp, courageous adventurers will begin in the main building’s reception area in groups of five and make their way through hallways, classrooms and storage closets to discover clues leading them to the exit. Be prepared to use your brain if you can! Each riddle won’t be too easy to solve, especially not with all the ghosts, zombies and clowns roaming the halls for unwilling victims... 

TW DEATH, MURDER, GORE

For the first four hours, the event runs smoothly save for a couple particularly spooked challengers escorted out by first aiders. It’ll be a long night for the performance art students helping scare and guide groups, but it’ll be a longer night for Bae Chaewon, daughter of Professor Bae of Natural Sciences. She’s at home in bed, but her father is hanging from a science classroom in the Health and Science building, the second stop on the haunted route. He’s upside down, gutted like a fish, a particularly graphic but realistic decoration until one of his students wanders through and recognises the mole just above his left eyebrow and trademark spotted bow tie. In minutes, the campus is overrun with MPD officers, but the show must go on. The question is... Why? Or better yet, who? 

WELCOME TO MI’S SECOND EVENT, MI:SPOOKTOBER !

IC, this overarching event takes place onward from Friday, October 3rd, 2019. The haunted house event starts on October 31st and lasts for four nights. The body is found on the first day. The event continues with a slight reroute of the path through the 'house’. 

OOC, the event lasts until midnight at the end of Friday, November 15th, 2019, though you’re welcome to continue threads beyond this date if you wish.

MU’s Haunted House opens at 6:30PM, letting the first group in at 7PM after a short briefing in-character on the concept of the quest by a staff member dressed as a ghost. Groups will be sent in every 15 minutes. This gives the group before them chance to move far enough through the university that the next group shouldn’t catch up to them. The full route takes approximately an hour and a half. The experience costs a mere ₩75,000 for the whole group — a mere ₩12,500 per person! 

Clearly by the time at which the body was reported, multiple groups moved past it before one realised it was real due to the dim lighting and otherwise realistic costumes. The MPD were promptly called and groups rerouted to continue the house missing the classroom in question. It’s likely your muse saw the body without realising — or maybe they did and didn’t say anything... — before it was blocked off. 

Entrants must be 18 or over. Or have a really good fake ID. Up to you. 

The last group will be allowed in at 2:30AM, the experience closing at 4AM. 

As of yet, no one knows who murdered the Professor, but look out over the next month in other events for clues! Here’s your first: it’s most certainly a gang affair. Theories, anyone?

To earn another +2 points, make an edit/moodboard of your muse’s Halloween costume. This doesn’t have to be one they’re wearing to the Haunted House event, but at some point over the month’s festivities.

You may write as many threads and solos as you want, of course, but you can only claim points for one thread/solo for each set of points. To count for points, the four posts for your threads, or your completed solos must be posted before the deadline.
