one thing I noticed in Rogue Nation is after Ethan learns the IMF is gone you can watch that realization - and panic - sink in in real time

and when he leaves the phone booth he looks so lost T_T

Ethan, who can make plans and backup plans at the drop of a hat, can't even decide which direction he's going for a moment

I think this is one of the most lost and vulnerable Ethan scenes we get in M:I

I've wanted to make these gifs for a while but it wasn't until @itslifetreesworld made a post about his clothes in the record shop that something really hit:

Ethan was dressed casually when he went to get intel and he was probably going to meet up with Luther and/or Benji afterwards !!!

so his ambivalence here could be Ethan fighting his natural instincts. he wanted to go meet his friends and give them all the info - because that's always his next move - then realizing he can't because they don't work for the IMF anymore. and he could also be leading Lane's associates to them and he won't put them in danger like that

Ethan is truly alone here and you can see how lost he is without his friends T_T
