KIDS Developer’s Cut (Excerpt)
KIDS was made using traditional 2D hand-drawn line animation in black and white. Technically, the whole project features multiple instances of the same character.
Our intent was to define the characters purely by how they relate to one other - without giving them distinguishable features. The animation was assembled, composited and choreographed using a game engine with a custom-made animation system in conjunction with physics simulations.
This video shows the film with graphic overlays that are used for debugging purposes. These gizmos give a glimpse into how the characters move and behave within the system.
