The Justy Chapman and Jazzy Oliver Situation [Part Two]
Part One: Link to post
Part Two: (You are here!)
in part one, we spoke about justy chapman's allegations and their inappropriate relationship with hiraeth, the teenager justy has been speaking to in private.
under the read more of this second part, i will be copying and pasting my tweets about jazzy oliver's involvement and why her actions lead to her rightful termination.
fair warning. these next few sentences are a bit of a live reaction from me when this was all unfolding. reminder, i'm copying and pasting my orginal tweets.
i knew the osc had issues with parasocial relationships and being all too willing to immediately forgive someone's predatory behavior the second it looks like there's room for doubt. but i didnt think jazzy oliver would be one of those people. i'm so deeply disappointed
jazzy youre a full grown adult. how can you look at a situation where a teenager who had legitimate claims of being groomed by justy, distanced from them, and suddenly retracted these claims after reconnecting with justy and speaking privately for months- and not question it??
this isnt how a situation like this should be handled, and its definitely not something you should publicly boast about and give your young impressionable audience the idea that what justy did was okay just because the teen they flirted with said its okay that it happened now.
jazzy making the decision to platform justy was one that went virtually unchallenged for two days. shortly after i posted about it, she made a response post.
jazzy thought justy "only groomed one teenager" and thought that was okay + worth overlooking and didnt think she was expected to actually look into the situation before immediately reconnecting with & promoting an accused groomer to her audience.
instead of making the effort to look into the situation or do any research, as a responsible adult would when handling such a sensitive situation with serious allegations, jazzy instead immediately took the opportunity to befriend and platform justy chapman after hiraeth defended justy's inappropriate behavior. jazzy declared justy innocent and her best friend without looking into the situation even once.
this was jazzy's response after people confronted her for platforming justy. she defends herself for saying she didn't know there were multiple victims and only knew about the one victim. as if that makes it okay.
jazzy oliver these sorts of claims against an adult in a predominantly young community are serious and you, as an adult, are expected to at least look into the situation before immediately befriending an accused groomer and claiming that you're best friends now.
you cant say "i dont keep up with drama" when you're actively dismissing the claims against an accused groomer and immediately boasting about your friendship with them. how was befriending them a higher priority to you than checking on the actual grooming allegations.
you cant just sit and wait around for someone to correct you or spoon feed you information. if you care as much about grooming allegations like you claim maybe actually look into the situation rather than immediately befriending the groomer and telling everyone how great they are.
your excuse that you thought there was "only one victim" is horrific. so its okay when only one person got groomed? suddenly its only an issue when multiple people were hurt? is one person not enough?? what kind of point are you making here other than you didnt care to check??
your excuse was that you rush your judgments. okay. why was the judgment you made IMMEDIATELY in favor of the groomer and NOT the victim??? how can you claim to care about grooming allegations when your first instinct was to declare the groomer was wrongfully accused??
i want you guys to pay attention to the language she uses in this. when referring to the groomed teenager, she only ever calls them "the accuser". but when referring to herself and her own experience, she calls herself "the victim". this freudian slip is really telling.
even when shes saying she had no idea, even when she's being told justy's actions were predatory and inappropriate, she never once refers to justy's victims as "victims." only "accusers." the only victim she labels here is herself.
soon afterwards, jazzy oliver would continue posting to bluesky and refusing accountability, as well as suicide baiting her young audience after being told she handled the situation extremely irresponsibly
jazzy you cant try and claim arguing about a tv show and platforming a groomer are the same thing. this isn't "internet drama," these are serious grooming allegations of an adult acting inappropriately with young fans and endangering them. this isn't about your personal feelings.
you can believe in people but you need to actually do the research and actually look into a situation before coming to the conclusion that someone is innocent. immediately jumping to defend a full grown adult with multiple allegations without doing ANY research is ridiculous.
you didn't just make a mistake, you acted extremely irresponsibly and endangered your young audience and several people are pointing this out and holding you accountable for platforming a groomer. you need to take this opportunity to listen and own up to what you did.
jazzy oliver you didnt even "shut away internet drama," you made the decision to publicly defend justy chapman without looking into the situation to begin with?? that's not "shutting drama out" that's intentionally refusing to do any research just so you can befriend a groomer!
the OSC exploded in an uproar of disblief and anger over jazzy's horrendously irresponsible handling of the situation.
it wasn't long before animation epic was made aware of the situation, and they made the decision to fire jazzy oliver for endorsing someone who they rightfully fired for engaging inappropriately with significantly younger fans.
however, jazzy oliver hides these details from her fans. she omits the truth about what she did and downplays it in an attempt to garner sympathy and to make animation epic's decision to fire her seem "unreasonable."
she leans heavily into the belief that she, for whatever reason, should not have been expected to look into the situation before speaking in favor of an alleged groomer. with a situation as serious as this one, any reasonable adult would know to look into it before coming to conclusions in favor of someone with grooming allegations.
but jazzy puts the responsibility of gathering information on the situation on others; claiming that someone else should have told her instead. she completely shrugs off all responsibility.
shortly after being fired, jazzy oliver's partner jordan (voice of teddy) made the decision to step down from animation epic in solidarity with jazzy oliver.
stephanie pines, friend and irl roommate of jazzy oliver and jordan also made the decision to step down from voice acting as microphone.
jazzy oliver was the only one who was fired. her partner and roommate made the decision themselves to leave animation epic, siding with jazzy even after her brash platforming of an ex-crewmember-turned-groomer.
jazzy oliver would continue her immature and tasteless spiel on bluesky after getting fired, making jokes about how she can now publicly post about her more explicit "yaoi" roles in other projects she's involved with. completely ignoring the fact her audience is made up of minors.
in a strange fit of revenge, she even made an attempt to take down michael huang; one of the creators of BFDI and TPOT. someone who was completely unrelated to her firing.
like in many of the instances where she was caught up in controversies, jazzy made an attempt to paint others as transphobic/homophobic/bigoted to try and garner sympathy. however this attempt backfired extremely, and she deleted the post shortly afterwards.
in the end, animation epic released a statement regarding justy chapman and jazzy oliver, addressing the reason in why justy was fired, and why jazzy was fired for platforming them. they also confront hiraeth for the "inaccuracies" and "untruths" presented in his video debunking justy chapman's grooming allegations, and for the fact that it does not tell the full story.
thus concludes the jazzy and justy controversy, and why neither jazzy nor justy were "innocent" or "wrongfully fired." both are full grown adults who should have known better and handled everything extremely inappropriately.
