As a huge fan of Derry Girls, this show was easily one of my most anticipated projects of the year, and after a somewhat rocky start, it manages to deliver. At first I wasn't sure that Lisa McGee's quirky sense of humor meshed well with the dark, serious tone of the mystery, but I got the gist of it during the third episode. From there on, it was one hell of a ride. The central mystery grew more and more interesting with each episode, and I could never be sure what the characters' true intentions were. The cast embodies these roles with the hilarious naturality I expected from a Lisa McGee show, and I was pleasantly surprised by how stunning the cinematography is throughout the eight episodes. While the last scene leaves the door open for more installments, most of the major storylines are more or less wrapped up by the end of the season, so it could serve as a self-contained series. Still, I would definitely love to see more of How to Get to Heaven from Belfast.
