Jim's Twenty-One was suggested to me by "What's That Sound", who left a comment with their "like" of the BOB post on 12/23/25. Before we get to Jim's Twenty-One, What's That Sound first musical gig was as a nine-year-old DJ at his elementary school.
Jim's Twenty-One was a trio - a member from Ireland, Scotland and England - who formed in the late 1980s after meeting in Brussels (where they all lived). They had a sound perfectly in step with the time - in fact, the writer of the liner notes tell of them meeting and talking with Lawrence (Felt) and Alan McGee (Creation/Biff Bang Pow) in Brussels. He also states that he felt that Jim's Twenty-One must have been inspired by The Shop Assistants.
There are live tracks here that wouldn't sound out of place in 1980s New Zealand. Harriet Records, has compiled the self-released EP from the band, some unreleased studio recording and the aforementioned live tracks into this CD that was released in November 2025. The CD was mastered by Michael Train who I follow on Bandcamp.
To "What's That Sound", thanks for reaching out. I really appreciate it.
