🌑✨ July Read #2: The High Priestess by Michelle Heard.
Y’all… The High Priestess had me in a chokehold. I’m still trying to breathe.
This was my second read for July, and let me tell you — Michelle Heard does not miss. This story was dark, intense, and filled with that raw, emotional tension that makes you want to scream into your pillow at 2 a.m. 😭
It’s mafia, but layered with this deep emotional undercurrent — like you’re not just watching a romance unfold, you’re feeling every wall that crumbles, every fear that gets faced, and every guarded moment that turns soft.
There’s a kind of spiritual depth to this one too — not in a religious way, but in how the characters carry their trauma, their strength, and the way they earn love. The heroine? POWERFUL. She's not just strong — she’s grounded, graceful, and intuitive in a way that left me completely in awe. And the chemistry? Ughhh. Fire. But not forced. It builds in a way that feels earned. You trust it.
This book isn’t just a love story — it’s survival, redemption, and becoming whole again. Safe to say it’s one of my favorite reads of the year.
If you’re looking for something that gives: ✔️ Emotional depth ✔️ A powerful, graceful heroine ✔️ Complex, well-written tension ✔️ Mafia + healing vibes ✔️ A touch of mystery and fate Then The High Priestess deserves a spot on your TBR. Like, now.
