I’ve had this obscure UK EP of The Style Council on CD for years but wanted the vinyl and finally found it at a bearable price. This is a four-track collection of Mick Talbot’s instrumental B-Sides and they are alternately jazzy and funky with a healthy sense of humor no less. There’s even a very amusing (and long) parody of 1960s James Bond/The Prisoner-type spy gibberish printed on the back cover, but the music is the point for getting this: No lyrics, no politics, just snazzy keyboard playing from the unheralded help behind Paul Weller’s post-Jam project. Worth finding.
