Even as Apple’s final event of 2020 gradually becomes a speck in the rearview mirror, I can’t help continually thinking about the new M1 chip that debuted there. I am, at heart, an optimist when it…
Something to think about. Well-argued & deeply insightful from Om Malik as to be expected.
THOUGH I WOULD PERSONALLY NOTE, swings between general-purpose & integrated-vertical, user-side & server-side, this has happened several times since the first microprocessor in the ‘70s. The M1 could very well signal a shift towards RISC and unified memory architecture but I wouldn’t count out CISC/x86 completely though for that matter. Even if Intel drops the ball AMD is still racing too.
