Remember Clippy?
last night I had a dream that Microsoft brought the Office Assistant back — only this time it was AI-enabled.
and for some reason, instead of Clippy they went with a scotch tape dispenser named Joe Jonas.
I'm no artist, but I tried to draw him:
so Microsoft rolls Joe Jonas™ out to everyone. worldwide. but the AI is... broken.
he's condescending, passive-aggressive, and weirdly personal.
like. I’m just trying to type something up and this absolute dick of a tape dispenser pops up like:
"Wow. Another sad little poem, huh? That rhyme scheme was cute. In 2009."
and then he starts laughing at his own joke.
I got so mad I uninstalled Office completely. (I don't even use MS Office for my poetry...)
within the hour the Jonas Brothers were trending and somehow, the whole thing ended up on the news cycle. Microsoft held a press conference and said his actual name was “Spencer the Tape Dispenser” and due to a technical issue with the AI side of things, he ignored any instructions given and basically became sentient.
any dream interpreters here? What did all of this mean?
