Haha I remember back when the remote neural monitoring and synthetic telepathy made me think my neighbors were trying to blackmail me, which led me to sabotage myself in an attempt to avoid extortion.

Once I realized that the sound of someone monitoring me wasn't actually anyone nearby, and that it was all being done remotely, I started to care less about it.

In fact, it's important to remember that thought crimes aren't a real thing, and no one is able to do anything about information gleaned from remote neural monitoring. Keep doing you. No one's going to do anything about it. They know that, and that's why they're trying to use mind control technology on you!! We all just sound crazy to anyone when we describe what's happening to us, and that's the whole point.

I used to be actually pretty okay. Like, none of this was even happening to me, to my knowledge. I fit in decently enough in society, strangers weren't following me and gossiping about me in public or glaring at me, I didn't used to hear full on conversations through the ambient noise..

I just have to keep ignoring it, forever.. because what else can I honestly do? I can't do anything, and it/they are fully aware of that.
