4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?
Eric LaRocca! He's a Massachusetts local trans horror author, who went semi viral with his novella Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke. Its a gnarly epistolary lesbian "romance" horror. Me and Eddie @yasswilliams hunted down and got the new hardcover reprints with extra short stories while in Boston one day, and eddie lent me his copy of one of Eric's other stories, you've lost a lot of blood. I love and treasure good modern horror writers whenever I come across one, and Erics writing is SO fun and nasty, he especially has a fascination with bugs thats wonderfully icky.
9. Did you get into any new genres?
I've been really getting into golden and silver age comics! at this moment, I'm actually reading some old silver age Doom Patrol right now (LEGALLY!!!!). There's just so much fun to find in these older eras, and so much fascinating history that reframe and recontextualize so many later stories created in the comics world
13. What were your least favorite books of the year?
oh my least favorite was this comic my friend gave me when she was cleaning house to move called black heart billy. It had a fun looking cover but it was SO dated and had a deeply annoying ethos and spirit to it, it was the worst aspects of punk (the need to be shocking and offensive often to a detriment, horrible treatment of women as a given, a sense of pretentious self importance hidden beneath a slacker attitude, gross hypermasculinity, ect.) combined into a comic that ended up just being more exhausting than anything. It's a shame because I like the art well enough when it doesnt go into ugly caricature and billy's design on the cover is pretty sick
like a young, rebellious robotman. Just an overall dissapointment, probably the biggest out of all the comics i've read this year.

Will Smith, only reason to see it.
And Viola Davis, I’d say. The movie didn’t give her character much, but I still liked her role in it.
