Name: Coruja Mictol (Coruja is Portuguese for owl, while Mictol derives from Mictlantecuhtli, an Aztec death god associated with owls)
Age: 8 sweeps
Blood color: Cerulean
Personality: Coruja considers himself to be well-read and intelligent, making him believe he’s better than the most of the lower-blooded trolls. He’s reserved, astute, diligent and yearns to know everything. He prefers to be practical and have things organized for efficiency. He’s stubborn, standoffish and doesn’t like to rely on or receive help from others. Coruja is rather uppity and condescending towards the low-bloods but is generally nicer to the high-bloods. Because of his intellect, he likes to give advice to other trolls, even though it’s almost always unwanted. He doesn’t like it when people insult his intelligence or talks down to him. He’s a bit of an insomniac and tends to stay up well into the day.
Oh please please PLEASE bump this up a little because then:
Hobbies: His hobbies include reading, performing experiments, puzzle solving and stargazing. He carries around a journal and quill with him at all times. He tends to eavesdrop and spy on other trolls for “research” (he once spent the day hidden in someone’s closet). He enjoys doing autopsies on any recently dead troll he can get his hands on and occasionally he’ll dissect a living one (mostly low-bloods, they’re not going to live long anyways).
This is awkward I keep thinking of Soul Eater characters:
Appearance: His face is rather unsettling; it always looks like he’s angrily glaring at you. He has large eyebrows and bags under his eyes from staying up late. His horns are suppose to resemble the wings and/or eyes of the owl, while his sign is a mash-up of a question mark and a talon.
Cool, cool. I tried to maintain those elements in the redesign.
Typing quirk: For the most part, Coruja has no quirk, just perfect grammar, spelling and capitalization. He considers most quirks to be idiotic and unnecessary. WhEn YoU tPyE lIkE tHiS, 0r 7h15, () R W#@T3V3R, it makes your text illegible and you look like an imbecile. However, whenever he gets mad or flustered, he tends tooo enlooongate the o’s (a reference to owls hooting).
Strife Specibus: Penkind (Often thrown like darts, if not used for stabbing and gouging.)
Fetch Modus: Jigsaw- the captchalogue card is turned into a disassembled jigsaw puzzle and is placed into a box with the other captchalogued items. To retrieve an object, he must find the specific pieces and reassemble it.
Trolltag: louringEnchiridion (lour means to look angry or scowl. Enchiridion is a synonym for handbook or manual)
GCAT: gloweringGuidebook?
Lusis: A large horned owl with two sets of wings that hunts smaller, weaker lusi. Once in a while, Coruja rides him.
Godtier title: I’m having a hard time deciding on this one.
You'll wanna ask CD about this one.
Hive: He lives tall, looming tower that has a balcony. There’s a telescope he uses to observe the night sky as well as other trolls. The windows have thick drapes to block out daylight. The tower has a vast library filled with mostly nonfiction as well as a small lab for experiments. There’s also a room filled with preserved body parts. His lusis resides at the top of the tower.
Cool. There’s not a ton to say about the bio, other than that you could amplify a lot of his traits to make for a more entertaining character. Let’s get to the redesign!
I accidentally Harry Potter. But then I decided to keep it because Harry's world definitely made a huge deal about owls. Let's go top-to-bottom:
Hair -- I gave it waaaay more volume, since your initial sprite's hair was laying very flat. I still tried to keep its shape, though.
Horns -- No change, save for a slight shift in position.
Eyes -- I changed them completely, since your initial eyes looked a little...anime. They now resemble and actual owl's eyes a little more, while still retaining the glare you initially wanted. I also added glasses because it's a very typical feature included when representing owls, which is when I accidentally Harry Potter.
Mouth -- I adjusted it to sit along canon proportions.
Symbol -- Flipped for no other reason than to increase the resemblance to a question mark.
Jeans -- I just made them more...cerulean. This is probably just a preference of mine, but I find troll designs to be a lot more aesthetically pleasing if they borrow from their blood color for the palette, especially since I didn't see any indication that he had a relationship with an indigoblood that would merit such a color choice.
Shoes -- Trolls rarely wear white, so I had to change the color up. While I was at it, I decided to add another blood color accent.
So that's pretty much all there is to it! Hope this review was helpful!
