m!a for after this one: m!bones is 5 years old. and has a force feild so nobody murders him to death

it happens in the middle of a surgery, right after the first few incisions were made. Dr McCoy is all done up in sterile surgical scrubs, and nurse chapel is done up to match.

the ship pitches slightly to the side as an errant energy wave from deep space hits the ISS. Bones curses loudly as it causes his hand to slip slightly, but luckily he doesn't nik anything important.

he expected there to be more tossing and turning as it wouldn't be the first time the Enterprise got into a firefight in the middle of a surgery, but it seems to just be the one. So he continues.

he's laser focused on his work as he often is then his eye starts to itch, or rather his lack thereof. And then it starts to burn, and hurt.

he drops the scalpel in his hand to clutch at it and shouts, then screams. The pain is terrible and it's compounding by the second, reaching the point of pain it was when he first lost it.

and then the unthinkable.

he hasn't lost it its back, the return of the depth perception almost as starkly off putting as its loss. As soon as it's back his memory of losing it starts to fade, but thats not something he realizes at the moment. It's not something he's going to realize at all, as the changes don't stop there.

with every passing second the reversal seems to double, that is until he reaches the age of about 17 and the inverse occurs. Its slows down at the same rate it's sped up. Aging and scars wiped away along with the memory is associated with them, until it finally slows to a stop.

Doctor "bones" McCoy is gone now, and in his sted is what appears to be a roughly 5 year old boy called Len. The clothing he had been wearing swamps him, one of his gloves has falling off, the surgical cap slipping comically low over his face.

the kid blinks up against the bright surgical spotlight in the room, with the familiar shockingly blue eyes. Hes obviously confused, but it's so confusing that fear, or really any other emotion hasn't said in yet. The kids just blankly staring around.

And Christine is staring right back, her shock mirroring the one on his face, but there's horror in hers as well.

It was getting annoying. All afternoon he was trying to finish up these pointless goddamn reports and all afternoon he'd been thwarted. A missing limb here, a burn victim there, when he finally came back to his desk he found Cat trying (and failing) to stick his fuzzy little head into Bones glass, to investigate the drops of alcohol left

*McCoy grumbles and sighs under his breath, but there's no venom in it. He shuts the door behind himself, always wary of showing weakness despite the intership changes.

It's because of those internship changes that Cat is even able to be hanging out in his office like this. Pets aren't exactly common on board; there's a grand total of one other on the ISS, as they are still a drain on resources. But no longer under empire control they arent outright banned either, and Jim's actually pretty fond of the little guy.*

*bones stretches, his back cracking painfully, and then crosses the room to skuff the kitten. But before he does he takes off his gloves, not wanting to ever correlate them with his little Cat.*

"quit pokein your nose where it dont belong..! Aint you heard about what curiosity does to cats?"

*despite his somewhat harsh words mccoys hands are gentle. He shifts the kitten so hes cradling it instead of skruffing it. He give Cat a few scratches on the head. A very small, very bittersweet smile creeps up on his scarred face.*

"sides you dont need to go pickin up this old mans bad habits..."

"I..." He lowered his pistol then as North drew his attention for a couple of seconds. If CC still had his LED, it would be spinning red.

"I just wanted to keep everyone safe." He shook his head, looking back to the humans sprawled out on the ground. The current scene triggered a memory that seemed to overlay with what he was currently looking at.

I've been here before. I've done this before.

"I...had to..."

"I didn't want to fail again."

Does CC know about all of Toran’s little safe houses he has around the city? And if so, how does he feel about that? 🤔 (a muse question for your kindhearted bean ❤️)

"Toran's shared all the locations of his safe houses with me as far as I'm aware. It worries me that he feels the need to have so many but, at the same time, it's good to know that there are safe places throughout the city. Not just for us, but for others. He's stashed supplies in each one so if we are ever in a pinch, we have plenty of places to go for help. I think they can be very beneficial to us if used properly."

"Oh?" He frowned a bit. Chloe never mentioned Kamski to him, and CC never asked. Sure, he was a little curious about their creator, but it was simply a mild curiosity that he never felt the need to fulfill. Kamski was irrelevant to him. CC had never seen the man before and he doubted he ever would. He was one of millions of androids. More than that, he was a replaceable SQ800. He was sure he meant nothing to Kamski. But he would never deny information, especially potentially valuable information. "You don't have to talk about him if you don't want to. Though, if you're willing, I'll definitely hear you out. What is it you wanted me to know?"

Chloe waited patiently nearby until CC looked like he wasn’t busy anymore. She didn’t want to disturb him while he was busy with silly questions. When he seemed free, she finally walked over to him. “You have a dog, right?” Chloe asked, briefly remembering him talking about it once before. “If you have time, would it be okay if I could pet him?” In truth, she really missed having animals around all the time when she used to live with Ralph. (I just remembered he had a dog omg)

CC nodded. "Yeah, his name is Trigger. He's an older K900 model. I found him several weeks ago." Though really, Trigger had been the one to find CC. He would have never found the stray on his own. The K900 had scanned him from afar and determined that CC was an SQ800. The military model android was the closest thing the poor dog had to it's original programming. While Trigger was designed to work with law enforcement, there was a time were K900s were briefly in the armed forces before quickly being retired to make way for the SQ800s. CC assumed that was the reason the dog chose to interact with him. He was something familiar to the pooch, or his function at least related closely to the K900s. Perhaps it was a sense of comradery that drew him to CC.

"Of course. I'm sure he would really like that." Trigger acted like any other dog. Though he acted like an old dog most the time. He laid around and acted lazy. Though CC noticed he got bored a lot. So he tried to do some enrichment with Trigger whenever he could. Whether it be planting gunpowder somewhere around Jericho or practicing a takedown, he always tried to keep the dog entertained by doing tasks he would have done as a K9 officer.

He led Chloe over to the dog in question then. Trigger was laying down beside a few crates, watching all the other androids go about their day. However, when he saw CC approaching with Chloe, his tail began to wag. "Trigger, this is Chloe. Chloe, this is Trigger." The dog lifted it's head then.

"She's a friend of mine. She's very nice and wanted to know if she could pet you." The K900 got to it's feet then and went to sit down in front of them. He raised a paw up to Chloe then like he wanted to shake, his tail wagging furiously.

"I'd say you're in the clear," CC smiled.

Does CC spend a lot of his time in Jericho with the others, or does he like to leave often like Toran does? 🤔 (another random muse question for you 😌❤️✨)

When CC finally does come across Jericho, he stays and helps out as much as he can. He wants to support the revolution and his fellow androids by being as useful as possible. For him, this means going out and gathering supplies. It also involves doing recon and getting an idea about what the humans are doing as the revolution picks up. When he isn't doing these things, he is at Jericho helping however he can. Whether it be checking in on other androids or helping make the place more functional. There is no task he is above doing.

However, unlike Toran, CC likes to make what he's doing known. He always makes sure to inform one of the Jericho leaders of his intentions and will often times give them an ETA for when he will be back. This is just so he doesn't step on any toes. He doesn't want to make things harder on anyone, especially Markus. So he makes sure he has permissions to do supply runs and recons. Though he will often request to go alone. This is because he doesn't want to risk losing anyone on these outings. CC can't stand to lose people.

"You're making a bad call and I will not be a part of it!"

They had been going at it for a little over fifteen minutes now, but already they were talking in circles. Josh and Simon had already been sent out of the room so that he and North could have a private conversation, but in hindsight it may have been best to let them stay. Maybe he could at least get one of them to see sense. Simon was pretty reasonable. Though honestly it would have been best to have someone just mediate them.

He respected North's position as the leader. Whether or not he agreed with that was irrelevant at this point. CC wasn't any kind of leader within Jericho. He helped out a lot though when Markus was still around. Getting supplies, helping the injured, checking in on some of the new arrivals. Simple things to help ease the burden. But he wasn't in the war room because of his help around Jericho. He was there because he was an SQ800. A former war machine. And North wanted a war, whether she realized it or not.

"I will not help you lead a bunch of unprepared androids into a slaughter." Had she not seen what they were working with? These were all domestic androids. Sure, some of them could fight, but even those that could didn't really know how to fight all that well. They certainly couldn't hold their own against the U.S. Army, which was what they would be asking them to do.

CC turned to storm out but a hand locked around his arm and prevented him from doing so. Well, sort of. He could easily break away from her or just pick her up and drag her with him if he wanted. But perhaps this was the best way to get his point across to her. CC turned back and jerked his arm free before he grabbed her forearms and lifted her up with ease, turning and pinning her up against the back wall. It brought her up to his height. They were eye level.

"You need to listen to me. Stop talking for one minute and listen." He didn't even wait for a response. "You don't have an army. You have numbers. Numbers don't mean anything if they don't have the skill to back it up. We don't have the skill. We don't have the training. These androids cannot go toe to toe with the United States Army and win. They just can't. But let's say we do manage to storm the camp and free our people. Lets say we do drive them out. Then what? You think the humans are going to talk to you? No. You'll start a war. They will regroup and come back ten times stronger. We could take Detroit and maybe hold it for a week if I'm being generous. If they don't just level the whole city with an airstrike before then."

He sighed before carefully setting her back down. "Please North. We have to find another way. Please just listen to what I am telling you. Please." Humans shouldn't be underestimated. Even one on one in a fight. He had seen first hand their determination. Their drive to win and survive against all odds. "We don't have to do things the way Markus wanted, but this isn't the answer." He took a step back. "If you knew what I'd seen, you wouldn't want this either." He extended his arm and deactivated his skin. An offer. "Words will never be enough. But I can show you." Show her what it really meant to be in a war.

"I...stand with our people. And I will honor whatever decision you make. I just want to help you understand what your choice will mean. If that's still what you want to do after this...then I will do everything I can to help us succeed."

But he didn't know if it would be enough...
