Pretty crappy photo but here is my last minute cramming for statistics mid-sem tomorrow. Converting my written notes into typed condense review notes to look over tomorrow.
Hopefully, all goes well.

It’s so weird being back home now there’s a whole ‘nother life somewhere else. Good weird I think. Everything feels fresh again. I’ve missed sandstone and dinners I don’t have to figure out myself, even the hustle of peak hour. So far this mid-sem break has been filled with
- baking (crinkle-cut chocolate cookies and today’s sour berry lemon loaf)
- an essay I’ve submitted
- one more still to go
- long-winded catch-ups with friends in libraries and restaurants nd just wandering
- netflix on my queen bed (what luxury! what bliss!)
- so, so much catch-up on sleep
- readings for torts and FAL still yet to be done
- hopefully getting through as much Carpentaria as I can
Trying to find your results from a entire list of student ID numbers is the most nerve-wracking experience ever.
Year 1 Semester 1 Mid-term Review
GE1101E Geographical Journeys: Exploring World Environments
My core module for my 4 years in NUS, so I don't think I can complain much about it. Lecturers were pretty damn good, Human geography lecturer was hilarious and totally knew how to ruffle us up! Group project though...like how so many people will say, it all depends on your group mates. Topic was rather fun and meaningful, but what's important is that you get a good team.
Just started on physical geography classes, so no complaints so far, and our Caucasian lecturer was pretty amusing too. Hope it will last =)
MS1102E Malays - Tradition, Conflict and Change
Perhaps my most expensive mod this semester. But still, worth it =) Lecturer was...quite...lecturish, but I have to admit the topics covered are really interesting. Particularly how it managed to tie in with Geography in some aspects. Though it got abit academical in the middle with the dealings with textiles and culture, our lectures were often filled with very interesting videos. For that, thumbs up =)
What's unique is that most of our work were based on the Malay CultureFest held in the same period. Fieldwork, visits, reports and reflections...if you hate going out and observe, good luck in taking this mod. I would say, this CultureFest is quite an eye-opener.
Tutorials...too short I would say. Though we could have explored more...well, not up to us to comment anyway.
LAK1201 Korean 1
Seems like there are many students in LPP too, if the number of Year 1 students in my lecture and tutorial classes is any gauge. This is one fun mod that totally makes my sem so cool =) Class timings are longer than usual, taxing on our timetables, quizzes every few weeks, and the need to constantly revise in order to keep up in class, but nevertheless, if you enjoy the language, it should not be an issue =)
Classes are fun, with lots of interactions and mini-games, partly due to the small class size. Not a waste =)
GEM1007 Chinese Heritage: History and Literature
Perhaps the most enjoyable mod so far! No exams, entirely project-based. The lecturer is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. An American lecturer teaching Chinese heritage? How cool is that! The way he customised all the Chinese knowledge into today's terms, makes lectures so much more digestable. Our tutor was good and hilarious in his own way too, and I can say I totally enjoy every single hour in this mod so far.
Not to mention, (though I'm rather ashamed to say that), since the only "quiz" ends mid sem, and the end of sem project is rather open-ended, there wasn't much need to keep up with the readings in the second half, so that we can really enjoy the lectures and not be boughed down by the notion of trying to memorise everything. <3
MKT1003X Marketing
All I can say, being an Arts student myself, is that this topic is really self-taught-able. Lecture was so.......sleepy. Have to admit that though the lecturer is very knowledgeable in his field of study, the way he conducts the lecture..
Most of the content can be derived from the textbook, else through webcast. Projects and assignments are not really tough, being a lvl 1 mod. Else, this is a pretty straightforward mod. So far.
All in all, I have chosen the wrong mods this sem, by taking the rather relaxed modules all together T.T well, that means I must put in more effort next sem lest I overload myself in my future years. Cheers!
Just finished re-reading my favourite book. Last day of mid-sem well spent :) Now to pick a new book and maybe watch Robin Hood.
so over mid-sem exams already.
