Ivar still lets me use him as a pillow on hikes. He ADORES affection from me (and other people he trusts), often butting his head under my hand for pets, or leaning against my legs and then keeling over at my feet for belly rubs. When we’re chilling out for breaks on hikes, he lays down and lets me use him as a pillow, and if I move away from him, he’ll scoot himself closer again. On camping trips, when he sleeps in a tent with me, he rests his head on my chest and even if I roll over, he nudges himself into some absurd position to get as cuddly with me as possible. Despite this close bond, wolfdogs are not typically good pets for the majority of people, largely because they are so difficult to care for! You can learn more at www.packwestwolfdogs.com

Yesterday the Trump Administration removed wolves from the endangered species list in the lower 48 states. This removes federal protections from wolves and allows states to decide the fate of these animals. This move has been attempted by other presidential cabinets....but was always overturn by the balancing act of the court. But not now. Trump and his admins have dealt a death card to wild wolves.

The loss of federal protection will now allow the states to open up legal hunting, trapping, poisoning, and other cruel acts of extermination to deplete wild wolf populations. We are facing a future where wolves will be exterminated again....and the work that we have done since 1978 will be erased.

This act goes against scientists as well as ecologist, who have proven that wolves are a benefactor to the ecosystem.

I personally would love for future generations to enjoy these majestic and beautiful animals. I would love for them to hear their howl in the wild. I would love for wolves to thrive without the encroaching fear of death from human beings. I would love for them to simply live.
