An icy land for my first of many Iceland photos. Sólheimajökull along with other Icelandic glaciers are special because of their blend of ice and volcanic ash. The ash insulates the ice preventing sections from melting leaving behind sharp shapes and abstract patterns. Blue Hour at Gullfoss joined by the moon. A 5 minute exposure transforms the clouds into a green glow reminiscent of the aurora borealis. This scene reminds me of the transformations of time. The perseverance of water forming the valley millions of years ago. In contrast, the craters of the moon show evidence of the giant impact 4.5 billion years ago, when Earth collided with an astronomical body. @Albertomarini.ice climbs out of Moulin 13 at Sólheimajökull Glacier. This is the same moulin as the previous post. Nothing compares to looking up from the bottom 90 feet below. You are immersed inside a portion of 230 miles² piece of ice, about 5 times the size of San Francisco.
